  1. I know in the past the recommendation is 1 crew member per gallon but you can always start smaller and add more as needed.

If you just need a small amount, a LFS might be better depending on their prices and selection. Online is good but then you have to consider shipping unless you get a bulk amount. I normally get them from reeftopia just because they ship next day and DOA is very minimal.

I normally don't QT cleanup crew until about a year ago when I got hit with velvet from a batch. Now everything gets into the QT tank for 76 days before going into my main system.

  2. What is your salinity. I don't think you have answered that yet.

How do you mix your salt? do you just add a certain amount of salt to water and not check salinity?

Do you check the salinity after you mix the salt?

Yup, they seem to be Oompa Loompa, how about the first one?. Do you think they are gorilla nipples or something else?

I'm not sure what they are. I never had them. Sorry.

  4. thank you! appreciate it. They look like another pest and I just want to assure whoever takes them from me don't think I am trying to pass them off.

Since they are also been around WAMAS forum so so long, it would be nice to have a centralize place to list more information on them.

  5. Just looking for more information on these guys.

I grab some from Leishman last year and they are going crazy in my system. The link to articles seem to not be working anymore.

Do we have any additional information on them?

Good point, perhaps I am grasping at straws, but I don’t want to spend more, a better strategy would be aqua-biomics tests before and after followed by a longer term test, but I’m just a hobbyist ?

    Darren

A lot of our hobby is base off hobbyist experimenting :)  but yeah aquabiomics can get spendy unless you do their bulk buy.

Many do say Tunze is the best, but I personally have always had bad luck with them. I am shocked to hear your having issues with your Avast ones. I have an Avast one that is over 10 years old now and been flawless. I did add the optional float to it many years ago as a backup. The only time the actual pressure tube failed me all that was needed was replacing the tubing between the sensor and pressure tube. Found that out after reaching out to Avast  about my issues.

Same!!! I have tried 3 differetn Tunze and they would work great for a while and always end up with issues.

currently using the one that comes with my hydros with no issues.

Ok. You posted in the For Sale/WTB forum so I was curious. Will move to discussion.

  9. Thanks Tom. We ended up calling JES for an estimate. Unfortunately, they have to go from the top and take out our flooring to complete the job.

We are looking at around 5.5k to go in, place a foundation foot (??) and a metal beem to insure it will sustain a 200gal tank.

So I might have to delay this project a bit until the funds are available. Looking for a second job now :lol2:
