  1. That's too tight of a space and forgot the baffle in the middle.
  2. Ok now that makes a lot of sense. So what if I go with the 10g sump but I leave about 8 - 9 inches for the refugium and use a HOB skimmer (Aquamaxx HOB 1). 9" for refuge, 5" for return section, and 5" for skimmer/drain pipe.
  3. Thank you so much for the offer. I would have to drain the tank. Won't be too difficult. Hmm now you are really giving me something to think about. I'm in sterling.
  4. Since I am new to saltwater tank, I am trying to understand this. Why do you think the 3g or so space won't be enough for nutrie8 export?
  5. The tank finished cycling in February. My clowns are in a QT right now. DT only had few snails and couple of hermits.
  6. The stand is 36 inches. So yeah if I take the water out and take the tank off there's that possibility. For a 40 breeder you don't think 10g would suffice?
  7. So I screwed up big time. When I was setting up this tank I figured I'd go without a sump and I bought a big box store stand. But i realize i need a sump tank since i want a refugium badly to grow some Chaeto. Now I have a small door that I have to put the sump through. So I have no choice but have to get a 10g sump. So much for trying to save money. Have to lie to the wife again since I need to buy a lifereef HOB overflow box, a return pump, and plumbing supply and hope I can plumb this thing properly. So 10g sump is all I can get. I will see if someone has an used one that I could buy cheap if this baffle thing doesn't work out.
  8. Did you have to buy the glass from them?
  9. Thank you. I'll give them a call. Hopefully they will give me a reasonable price. Dulles glass quoted me $75 per baffle. ..... insane
  10. No didn't try yet. Didn't wanna mess this up.
  11. Anyone know of a good place to cut glass baffle for a reasonable price around Reston Herndon (NoVA) area? I am trying to build a small sump and cutting the glass is pricier than the glass itself. [emoji19]
  12. Thank you Tom. Yes very first SW tank. I've had fw tank in the past. Hopefully the patience pays off. I'll reach out to Mattie. Already spoke with coyote of lfs but no one can guarantee availability.
  13. Also I can't find the fish anywhere in northern Virginia. No one seems to have one juvenile black and white ocellaris. Plus I am going to QT my fish for 6 weeks. So time is plentiful. :-)
  14. I am going to top of using rodi water. I am not very thrilled with Dr. Tim's product. I should have just stuck with ghost feeding. I am very patient and have time.
  15. Thank you flooddc. I'll look at the other thread. I do have rodi in hand. Was worried if adding rodi would cause the cycle to stall per se
  16. Oh I forgot to mention, I used Dr Tim's ammonia to start the cycling with his one and only. I went with the fishless cycling method. Hope I didn't make things worse.
  17. So I have a really dumb question and feel stupid asking this question. My question is, when you are cycling your tank, ate you supposed to top off with rodi water for evaporation? Also, had anyone used Dr Tim's all in one? Or is that just a snake oil? My ammonia hasn't dropped in over a week. Consistently at .5ppm and nitrite at 2ppm. Thank you for all your help.
  18. I am looking the hydor ato as well. Let's see which one I end up going with.
  19. Good question. I didn't even think about the pump head pressure.
  20. Thank you @PupChow and @WilRams. It looks nice. I also like the snack footprint. That was the other reason I was thinking about this. Nice video @PupChow. Thanks for the review. How long is the chord? My reservoir will be under the stand. The stand is 28" tall.
  21. So I am thinking about getting an ATO. Since I don't have a sump, space is an issue. I am thinking about the smart ATO. Does anyone have any experience with the smart ATO? Are they good? Do they cause any issues down the road? I like the fact it doesn't have any moving parts and won't get stuck. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  22. So I am finally ready to put fish in my tank. I have setup a hospital tank. I plan on treating all my fish for minimum of 4 weeks before putting it in the DT. My question is can clownfish be treated with Cupramine? Or should I go with Paraguard? I also plan on treating them with Prazipro. I can't find any info on which fish will tolerate copper and which fish won't. Thanks for your help Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  23. Thank you so much. So my plan was to bleach it than give it a vinegar bath. I guess for now I will just sock it for few days and see what happens. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
