  1. I'd be interested in who supplies your glass, too. The prices I've found on the internet for custom cut glass have been insane.
  2. It went there...
  3. You're right. I didn't have any algae for the snails either so I bought hermit crab pellets to feed them until the algae came (which it did a couple of days ago). Snails will be arriving shortly. I plan to keep on using the pellets until there is enough detritus to sustain them. I thought this was all a little odd when CUC packages included both snails and crabs. Do you think the pellets will be enough food? Also, how long do you think I should continue feeding the pellets?
  4. Thank you. I'll post pictures when it gets bigger...or if I kill it.
  5. Thanks, everyone! I'll leave it in there for now. Cheers!
  6. Hello everyone. My tank finished cycling about a week ago and I popped in some crabs. I've started developing algae (why is this so exciting?) and I noticed this thing emerging from under a piece of dead rock. Is it a friend, a foe? Should I suck it out of the tank with a turkey baster? What do you think? For reference, the whole little colony there is about 1/2cm in diameter.
  7. Looks like I've missed out on that one. Not a big deal. Cycle is done. Yippee! I'd like to start getting some "beginner" corals going but I have a few questions. First, which species should I go with? I'm thinking zoas, mushrooms, leathers. Thoughts? Q2. Given the size of my tank, what are the realistic spacing requirements I'd need to keep zoas? Q3. What should I be testing my water for, and should I dose with anything to keep these guys happy? Thanks for everyone's help.
  8. I came back from Ireland yesterday to a massive stack of packages! Good times. I received my AquaticLife RO w/ DI cannister: I also received the laser cut acrylic I ordered from Ponoko to create the media basket I showed in my initial post. Here's the acrylic sheet showing the cuts. Pieces with protective film removed. I assembled them with Weldon 4. I also created an adjustable flow director to ensure after from the display section doesn't just dribble down behind the dividing wall. I split a piece of airline hose to create the seal when it's in place. It looks like I'm almost at the end of the cycle and should be adding livestock relatively soon. Good times.
  9. Excellent idea. I'm also thinking about some sort of underwater tape. I just need to force the flow over the wall that separates the pump section.
  10. Sorry about the confusion, it is glass to glass, water tight but not structural. I was thinking about just jamming some epoxy putty in there. It wouldn't be the most elegant solution but it's in the back, so who cares. I think I'll grab some of that stuff you linked and see what happens. What do you think I could use to apply it once mixed? I won't be able to get the whole tube into the rear chamber to apply directly. Thanks for the suggestion!
  11. I really dig the form factor on the Nano Box. I'll shoot you a PM about your Hydra's. I have plenty of time before I will need to upgrade so this stuff will help with my research. Thanks for the note! Thanks! Unfortunately, that stuff doesn't bond glass (I don't think I mentioned that the wall is glass. I'm not really having much luck finding anything. I'm afraid I might have to tear the whole thing down (again) and take care of this before my cycle is over. Wah wah wah.
