  5. Hi Everyone, I just want some input on the AquaC E-240 skimmer. I'm looking to replace my current coral life skimmer. It is not pulling much skimmate. The only good skimmer I can find that would fit my sump is the AquaC E-240. Does anyone currently have this skimmer and can let me know if it is worth the price? Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the tips. I will take the advise and start with some clownfish and Blue Chromis instead of the damsels. Will update soon.
  7. We are on day 9 of our cycle. Had an ammonia spike to 1 on day 6 and 7 after adding a raw shrimp to the tank. Today it is at 0. Both nitrite and nitrate has remained zero for the entire time. We have been testing daily at around the same time of the day. We have around 120LBS of live rocks that was from a 7-8 year old tank and 80LBS of live sand from LFS. We also added about 10 gallon of the old tank water to this new tank. Does anyone know if the this means the tank is cycled?
  8. Thanks everyone! We are very glad to be a part of this club. Thanks to Matt for the intro and the hook up with the Kessils! Jenn- I am not too sure yet. Since this is our first salt water tank, we are going to take it slow. Once the tank is cycled, we'll start with a few damsels and clowns. I wish we could come home with some frags from Frag Fest. Just don't know how we could keep it til the tank is ready. Yes mixed reef down the line.
  9. Thanks Jenn. Won't have to worry about the toys for awhile. By that time, I'll have little helpers telling me what I can't do to the tank. Tang, yes it is kessil lighting. We love the look and we eventually want to add corals.
  10. My wife and I decided to set up our first salt water tank for our twin girls and us to enjoy as they get older. At three month they both are already mesmerized. We are currently at the beginning stages or our water cycling, day three. Here are some earlier pictures of our set up and after shots. Would appreciate some suggestions and tips. Putting everything together This is the result after many back breaking hours We had to get a custom stand for this tank since the original stand was not in good condition to support the 100 gallon wave front tank. There is currently around 100lbs of live rock and 80lbs of live sand. For circulation we have three Hydor 1500. There is a overflow that leads to the 20 gallon sump underneath. Since there was about 20lbs of smaller live rock left over, we put it in the 2nd chamber of the sump with a skimmer. Can't wait for the cycle to be complete and start adding some livestock!
  11. I recently bought a Mag Float to clean my tank. Thought it was pretty convenient to use to clean until I realized that it put numerous scratches on my tank. I think a piece of sand got sandwiched in between. Does anyone know if there is anyways to get the scratches out? Or at least make it less apparent?
