  2. I have picked up at FedEx location before it didn’t show there till 10am. I also have picked up at a huge UPS shipping distribution hub center in Hagerstown but it didn’t open till 930 so I would rather wait an extra hour for that because I’m not going to acclimate them while I drive 45min home lol. Maybe I’ll do that next time and will bring fresh tank water to mix in their bags before I drive.

  3. So I always seen vendor posts "picking up fish at the airport" I wish I could cut off UPS or fedex and intercept my package early in morning. Sometimes they show up late and I feel this would minimize losses. Is there an option to pick stuff up at the airport or do vendors have a totally different shipping method?!

  4. The salt you are using probably mixes high on calcium and mag. Keeping them in the upper ranges since there isn’t a lot of uptake. I see no problem using an alk doser to keep your alk number steady. And see no problem keeping mag and calcium in upper ranges with water change

  5. Like origami said there is a million factors it seems for RTN. Sometimes my SPS don’t tell me they are angry until a week after I make the mistake so it’s hard to narrow down the problem. The tank looks newer based on the look of the rock. I couldn’t keep SPS until my tank was 6 months old. I kept sending in new frags they would do fine for a bit then die. Every tank is different though so it may take more or less time for your tank and there is no real way to know when it’s ready. The good news is it gets easier as the tank gets older and the phosphate and nitrate issues seem to go away for me as the tank gets older.

  6. Just need to rant a little cuz it’s late and I have had a few glasses of wine. We all lose stuff and none of us are as perfect as our build threads. I get false impressions reading all these build threads online everyone is so perfect (Wamas is most honest) So just an example I want to share: probably 70% of the SPS corals I buy die within a year or two. Mariculture acros, don’t bother. Wild SPS, guess what? a lot of it doesn’t do well in captivity LONG term. Buy the acro species you see listed often and listed often from Several different homegrown sources. Realize that an individual may often have either extremely good talent or short term great luck with growing. Something that does well in your tank may not do well in mine and vice versa. Don’t let me be a Debbie downer the 30% I can grow long term I’m going to grow like weeds and will frag the F out of it and my corals offspring are going to be around in this area a long time after I die. Which helps our oceans and hobby. And for me I love doing it!!!

  7. Great save! I have found that when my tank is in that sweet spot for them, it’s *almost* like cutting up pulsing Xenia. I have even had a 1mm foot sliver sprout bubbles and thrive. I’m glad to see more propagated nem in Wamas recently as info is spreading and tanks get healthier with technology
