I will say you can order fish at ReefeScape if they don't have what you are looking for or it isn't common. They also have a fair amount of fish that should be graduating quarantine within the next week or so.

Requesting Feedback On Reef Aquascape - 75G AIO
ParrotFish replied to Canaan's topic in General Discussion
Definitely needs another level or two. Fish also love arches/archways. Keep in mind rock is also where beneficial bacteria and micro fauna live. Here is my tank. It is hard to see but I have 4 rocks for the bottom level, 2 large rocks for the mid level and one at the top. Kinda makes a pyramid shape like this. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ https://photos.app.goo.gl/QnUFGRjtri47kCgv8 -
I saw you have an apex lite. I wonder if that is the problem. I would send Neptune a message.

I'm also on Android. Not sure why you don't have gear icons. But here is how to get to the temp probe settings https://photos.app.goo.gl/HdRwo1oCNqxGohwDA

There are a number of helpful videos out there on the pros and cons to AFR. If you are a Serious Reefs subscriber they made a good video about it recently.

AFR in powder form is definitely cost effective. I have waffled on doing AFR, I even have a bottle in my cabinet. It works on a different level than a typical 2 part and it makes me a little nervous. Also always worried about overdosing trace elements (which to be fair, I could be doing right now with the micro e) and major elements. Like right now I don't do any supplementation for Cal or Mag so I'd be worried those would get overdosed. Quite a few people still have to supplement for Alk with AFR.

I'm struggling to remember now. Doing some searching online and I'm really not sure how I ended up there. Guess it just caught my eye. I know I was looking for something that covered at least some, especially manganese (I have heard how that can be important to goni health and I really wanted to keep gonis). Part of this was I didn't want to change too many things as I really wanted to see if changing salts solved a lot of issues. And I dose by hand. It is in drops and I currently do 3 drops a day.

So I did my first ICP test last year. I wasn't unhappy with how things were, but knew they could be better. I took it as proof I needed to change things. At the time the only things I was doing was WC with reef crystals, alkalinity (and sometimes some calc) from red sea, live phyto and red sea AB+. I changed to aquaforest reef salt and started aquaforest Micro E. I was and still am scared of trace elements. Putting stuff in you can't test for at home is worrying. I did a slow transition to AF salt and started the trace element supplement very slowly. I'm still only at 75% of the rec dose. I actually plan to do a follow-up test any week now. To see the changes in terms of numbers. But the tank is much happier. Gonis are thriving, pretty much everything is better. (Always going to be some outliers to just make your life difficult.) Some of this depends how deep you wanna dive both in terms of money and time. I will say I am considering the Triton supplement where you send in a test every month and they make you a custom mix of elements every month. It's a bit pricey, but may be worth it. I need to see what my follow up test shows.

I use red sea chemicals and I look I their little booklets regarding how much I can change in a day. But this on BRS regarding mag

I'd scrub that sponge off. It may be just irritating enough to cause it to not fully extend.

Thank you all who brought frags, who brought food, who volunteered and gave their time. It was an amazing event!! -
I'm sure most of you have seen by now, but just in case; our area is predicted to get a significant amount of snow on Sunday. So check those batteries, generators, fuel. Plan for the best, prepare the worst.

Absentmind's Red Sea 425 (91 gallon) reef build
ParrotFish replied to Absentmind8868's topic in Dedicated Tank (Build) Forum
Am I reading things correctly and the tank was only set up approximately 1.5 months ago? -
Welcome to WAMAS and belated welcome to the SW hobby! If you become a paid member you can access the buying/selling part of the forum, and people do sell BTA pretty frequently.

What are the saltwater stores in the area these days not counting Petco/PetSmart? I know of: House of Tropicals, Tropical Lagoon, Congressional Aquarium, ReefeScape, Supreme Reefs, AquaHaus. I thought there was another one or two.

Maybe making one slightly higher or lower. And that would give you some variation and also slightly different coral placements. I hope that makes sense haha. I like the arches/caves through them though! -

Welcome in!! Glad to have ya! Fingers crossed for those bar exam results. When will you get them? Glad you found ReefeScape already as they are solid folks over there. With the goby/shrimp pair I would recommend having your rocks on the glass and then sand as much as possible. They will dig till they reach the bottom (I know mine have) and can easily disrupt rock formations. Given you are doing 2 mounds of rocks you should be able to, if you decided of course, move the sand over, put the rocks down, and then move the sand back over, and repeat. Looking forward to your build! -
Oh wow, I am so so sorry. Dumb question, are you saving things like water and sand to save on costs? I have heard reusing sand is not advised, and I have no clue what it takes to wash that much sand. Just watched the video. In my opinion it looks really good for a tank that crashed. I usually hear that nothing has lived. But I also understand taking an opportunity like this to redo things.

I tried the torches higher up and it didn't go well. So thinking of sticking with euph on the sand for now. I'd like to get more corals on the rock, just been fighting figuring out flow. I also problems with placing things permanently lol permanent decisions are hard haha. I had 2 sps on the shelves, they did well for a bit but I think some fluctuations in parameters made them very unhappy. But I am eventually hoping to do some sps up at the tops.

Thank you! Thank you! Yeah it is a super cool piece. I still have not used it how I intended haha but that's okay, not a lot in this hobby is a straight line from A to B
