  2. I've got a new pump on the way, topping off by hand has been a PIA.

Anybody with this unit notice that the power cord doesn't go in all the way? Or is that just me?

  3. I added one of these this week to my tank. There are chromis, a cardinal fish, clowns, and firefish. He just swims around and keeps near the rock work. I do have a lot of hiding spots and swimming spaces in case it decodes to start chasing someone. Really cool looking fish. Good luck with yours. dc3734834dcdfb80eca643446fd1ecc1.jpg943f60a77feb3e4489bd39d2a7c9c3ad.jpg

  5. Tank is plugging along. Coming up on almost a month since water was added. I threw a conch snail last week, and it's still kicking, so my guess is it must be OK! I've been turning the lights on just so the bulbs can burn for a bit before I finish up the cycle. I'd say I've got almost 30 hours or so on them, still worried about switching the corals over and the brightness! I've been adding a bit of food every now and then, and I'm seeing some hair algae, and the usual uglies, like diatome spots popping up on the sand and rocks. determined to keep it rolling with just the conch for now till Jan 1. I think I'll do a 50% water change, as I'm sure my nitrates are high.

My only real concern at the moment is the incredible amount of evaporation I'm seeing.

I think it's just the time of year. My 60 cube is evaporating like crazy. Your tanks coming along nicely sir!

  6. Spoken like a man who knows from experience ;)

Yea but for some reason I'm taking my time with this last one. I know I always accumulated more and more stuff and experience along the way. So the OP should be mastering it by now

  7. Got the replacement today. Pretty nice tank. And they gave me free upgraded media baskets. Insead of the stock filter socks because the first one came broken.

Didn't mess with it yet I need to get a tank stand.

And I need water. And more rock. And sand. And salt. Ugh what did I get myself into again..

It won't be that bad. The more you upgrade the easier it gets.

  8. Turn pumps off stir it up and just suck the water out when you do water change. Just the back tank water.

This is what I would do in my innovative marine tank

  9. In my opinion, your fish are getting sick because they are stressed from living in an environment that has been in a continuous state of change from day one. They need to have down time during which there is nothing new in the tank and no hands in the tank. Hold off on adding any new corals until the fish are better. If it really is ich, and since you took out that bad shrimp, I would suggest to get a cleaner shrimp to reduce stress from the itching the parasites cause, and to ease itching so that the fish don't end up dying from bacterial infections due to scratching against rocks.

This. You need to slow down a little bit and ease up on rushing to continuously add stuff and constantly moving things. This is a hobby of patience
