I have on reactor. Which is more important to run in the actual device- carbon or GFO?

Hi all, We have a sponge that was diagnosed as being invasive by BRK. It took over our first Zoas in one day and encrusted them. So sad. Now it seems to be back. It looks like a clear harmless sponge until it hits coral. I see it on 2 of our rocks. I am ready to throw in the towel with this hobby. But Jack is very upset at the thought of breaking down our tank. I am as well. Very sad. But how else to proceed? Our ideas: 1. Take everything off of rocks and move to "new" tank. Including fish. 2. Remove rock. Scrub, scrub scrub. Soak in fresh water. Leave out in sun. Soak again. 3. Clean and clean the tanks: Sump and DT. Have sit outside in sun. But what is the best way to "filter" the rescue tank for a month? It will house corals and fish. I will be using our old 29 bowfront for it. I really have no idea what is the best way to proceed. But we do not want to stop with this endeavor either. Of course, we would love to just upgrade, but that is not an option either. So any help and suggestions? Thanks so much!! Toni, Jack and Sam

Also, he is so fast and elusive that I would completely destroy my tank trying to get him out!! The other fish would lose it too! We have 7 chromis, 1 black Nemo, coral beauty, royal gramma, a 1" Dory!

He is a very active fish still. Shows absolutely no signs of illness. Darts through tunnels and rock work. He eats like a pig. We are starting to think it is an abrasion from going under the rock on his side too quickly. It is now a flat greyish patch. Thanks so much for your input!

Our orange shoulder tang recently discolored a little bit, and we don't think that it is stress. He has a bulge on his side, and we don't know what it is. He has had a cut on his head before, but it doesn't look like this. Any suggestions? He is about 4 inches long, and we have had him for almost a month. Thanks, jack and Toni

Thank you everyone for your opinions!! It seems like "baby steps" are certainly called for! I have seen lots of posts asking for help getting the Kalk stirrer dialed in correctly. Is there a primer somewhere? I need cliff notes as I have very little brain space left!! LOL! Thanks in advance! Toni

We are in need of a more automated system. In keeping with that idea, we decided to buy the Avast ATO. They offer a discount if we buy a Kalk Stirrer. But is that what I want? Or do I want a calcium reactor? We do not have anything like this set up. We have a 65 with a 40 sump. We have fish, softies, sps, and lps. Our parameters are good, but we do have spikes on days that things are not manually maintained with the tank. (Some days 3 kids are enough!) If I buy the Kalk stirrer with pump, then it can go in the basement and be sent through the floor to the tank. Like that! But is that the next big purchase? Or do I want to buy a Calcium reactor? I have read and read and got more and more confused. I see that the big names in WAMAS have one of it all. We have no means to go there, so if we bought one, which one? WAMAS peeps help me decide please. Down the road I want to buy a controller, maybe mothers day. The ATO can be bought with that in mind too. My tank is not huge, and I do not want to upgrade unless we build a fish room- not happening. Please help me decide!! TIA Toni
