  1. I was gonna bring that up, but thanks. Anyway, i have about 150lbs in my current DT, can i use this in my new set up and just add few more lbs? I think the ratio is 2-3lbs per gl, so i may need another 260lbs, is that pretty much accurate statement?
  2. what is the advantage and disadvange of bare bottom?
  3. Good day everyone! I'm setting up my 210gl and would like to know what is the recommended or best fine sand that I can use for my reef set up. I'm still debating whether to go no sand at all. Million thanks!!
  4. Opps, yes, that's part of the plan to move LR. Thanks a million!
  5. I'm about to move to a new place. My concern is how to safely move my livestocks. My plan is to set up my 210gl to the new place, use at least 30-40% of salt water from the old tank, and acclimanate for 2-3 days, before moving my livestocks. Is this the safest way to do it? Is it enought time to acclimate, using 30-40% water from the old tank? Also, currently using AI color vega, but during transistion, I will set up MH. Should I acclimate them also, switching from LED to MH? Appreciate any advice.
  6. not wall paper, but the overflow cover. I thought they call that back wall.
  7. I mean the back wall, not the bulkhead. I would like to replace the back walls, but is there anyone in the area that sells this and is it easy to put it back?
  8. Million thanks!! What about in between the bulkhead? There is only 1/4" in between the 2 wall and it's hard to get the old algae.
  9. just purchased an old 210gl RR tank from wamas member. Anyway, getting ready to thoroughly clean it, before setting up. It has a lot of stuff in between 1/2" back wall and hard to get it. Is there anyone in the room encounter this? Is it safe to use high pressure washer? What kind of solution should I should to get all dried algae? Many thanks,
  10. So how was the lucky guy that got this tank? Rik never replied to my PM, so assumed it was sold.
  11. Thanks. Hopefully, still available. I'll let you know.
  12. All my CUC did contribute to decimated the brown algae. Still have minimal, but should take care off this weekend, after another 20% WC.
  13. Thanks for offering TDS, but i did order and recieved that as well last friday. So ut in MV? At least i know some1 now that is closer home. If u need any help, just give me a buzz. My name is Cj.
  14. I think we identied the issue. It's my RO/DI. I changed all my filters including the brain and resins last Friday and did 20% WC last saturday. For the first time in 3 months, yesterday there is only minimal brown algae in my sand bed. It's almost not visible. I'm using AI Vega color and for the first time, I set them to the max (White: 100%, and the rest 80%). All corals are happy. I'm planning to do another 20%WC this weekend. Keep you posted. Again, thanks to you all for helping me identifying the problem.
  15. ok, I'll have my TDS check and replace my resin.
  16. so given that the probe is properly calibrated, having 7.9 ph will contribute to brown algae?
  17. yES, I do have color changing DI resin and Yes I have calibrated my PH meter. I just got the reefer keeper lite plus last wk.
  18. Does PH has some contribution for this brown algae? My test kit gives me a reading of 8.3 and my probes reading is 7.8-9. Not sure which one is accurate.
  19. Never check my TDS. I know I changed the filter and membraine last Jan 2012. I think they are due for change. I'll have LFS to check the TDS for me. What is the desirable TDS?
  20. I forogt to list turbo and astrea I also have. Also using RO/DI. Don't know the difference between dino or diatoms. All I know brown in my sand bed and rocks, also some in the corals.
  21. Hello fellow reefers. I'm getting irritated with the brown algae in my 120g DT. Been combating this for quite sometimes at least 3 month now and no improvement. I'm using dual reactor, have refugium, only feeding once a day, MP40w ES, Hydro korilla (1350GPH) . So all possible prevention have made, yet no improvement, 20% WC, have different kinds of snail, particularly cerith, conch, nassarius, I'm using VEGA color and reduce it 60% for 6 hrs. Parameter are close on the dot: NO3- .25, PO- 0, PH 8.2, CAL: 430, ALK: 9, MAG-1380, SAL-1027, TEMP-78.5. I could think of any that may cause this issue. DT been set up for over a year now. I have a little bit of everything (SPS, LPS, softies), yellow tang, poweder tang, salfin tang, Naso blonde, true percula. Million thanks in advance.
  22. Im looking for couple of cerith. Anyone know a place to get?
