About Me

I am a doctoral candidate studying dinoflagellates genomics and phylogenetics. I have done research on bleaching in plate corals in french polynesia, mosquito borne avian diseases in hawaii, and whole genome microarrays. Currently I am collecting dinoflagellate blooms from various reef tanks for identification and study. Of these dino blooms I have found 2 species of Prorocentrum sp., Ostreopsis sp, and an as yet unidentified gymnodinoid.

I started my first saltwater aquarium on September 11 2011. Current fish are a pair of False Percula Clownfish, a pair of Bangaii Cardinalfish, and a pair of Yellow Watchman Gobies. Corals are all softies (mushrooms and zoa) and LPS (frogspawn, plate, favia, blasto, acan). Next fish will probably be a longnose hawkfish (another pair???).
