  1. Good morning fellow reefers I have a silly question . So I've added some Trigger pods (in the bottle) to my system along with establish live rock from my 50 cube. I'm running a UV on my system and I've seen the results as far a algae blooms. But me I love to clean the glass of any films. So I've seen thousands maybe millions lol of pods on the front and side glass. They are very small and white in color but you can see them crawling on the glass. I'm sure my wrasse love eating them. I have a glass cleaner with a blade on it. If I clear my glass would this kill them? I know it's a silly question but I don't wanna kill a food source if I can help it. 3. All the fish got introduce within 2 week period. Most coming from my 50 cube expect the tangs and wrasse (potters and yellow Coris) the Dotty back and angel was from the same place and introduce the same time

  5. So I haven't blog in a while but I just wanted to update my lil reef journey. I currently upgraded to a DSA 105 rimless from a 50 cube (which will go on sale soon [emoji51]) but this issue I'm having is rather weird. So I buy fish to enjoy them and watch them live in their environment. I currently have stocked (3)Tangs: Yelllow, Blonde Naso, Blue Hippo all about 4-5 inches in size, (1) Cinnamon Clown who bites me and host my Duncan smh, (1) Purple Stripe Dottyback, (1) Flame Back Angel super aggressive, (1) Foxface and lastly (4) Wrasse: Cleaner, Some type of Fairy, Yellow Coris, Potters Wrasse. Now for the most part all the fish are out and about swimming having fun expect 3 that I've noticed which are the Purple Stripe Dottyback and 2 wrasse Potters and Yellow Coris. Now the Dottyback hides for reason because the Flameback Angel chases him if he shows his face. Which I have no understanding because they are not similar fish but I can say when it's feeding time the Dottyback gets his food and then runs for cover lol. The wrasse have me puzzled. The potters wrasse comes out around 7:45 am and by time I get home at 5:00 he's had enough and go bury in the sand. It's frustrating because he's my favorite fish and I want to watch him. Now the Yellow Coris wrasse is very usual. When I first put him in he buried himself for a whole week. Didn't come out for food or nothing. I thought he died. He came out of hiding around 8:00 pm. So I was happy to see that but mad also because the lights go off at 8:30 pm. And then he goes back to bury himself so I get about 30 mins to watch him [emoji31][emoji31][emoji31]. So my question is how can I break this cycle? Can I change my lighting schedule and they stay out? Or is this just their personality? The fairy wrasse is large but he doesn't bother them. It's no bully's in the tank expect the Angel and Clown and that's only towards me. I need some feedback Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Love the engineer goby but mine jumped so please put a cover on the tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Ok I think I'm going that route I have 1 but I wanna add another it's right below my media tray before it gets to the return Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Point taken I do plan on adding some rock but I don't want a whole lot. I do want a lot in my sump Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah I don't really plan on using any more rock than what's in my system. I like the minimal look now. 1 tower in the middle to cover the overflow and 2 islands on the side and flat pieces on the sand is what I'm going for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Don't plan on adding any new dry rock may a few pieces of shelf rock. I have some rock I'm gonna use from my work lobby tank. And thanks I have a 40 breeder to hold the fish. May give me a chance to treat them with meds also. SN: You know anybody selling a 8 bulb sun power T5 fixture Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I was thinking the same just didn't want to go through a cycle again if I can help it. Also my concern is using the sump and lighting on the new set up. I could always buy another sump but I see no need when this one would work. So it won't be just a livestock transfer but also equipment as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. The tank has been up and running since about Oct 2015 so roughly 5 months. I removed about 2 inches of sand from the cube about a week ago and it's in a 5 gallon bucket. I don't want a deep sand bed no more so I don't plan in buying more sand so even if I use all the sand I brought 50 pounds for the original set up. I really don't want unmount the corals. Some I don't have glued and knowing me I will be moving the corals around until I find that sweet spot. I do plan on doing it within the month piece by piece as some of the fish not coming to the new tank. I have mostly LPS so I'm not too concern about breakage and I plan on using some type of egg crate portable mount in a 5 gallon to hold in place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. So a lot of my corals are glued on the rock still add the aqua scape first? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. So I've decided to move on from my 50 gallon cube which is tanking up a lil more space than I want in my office to a 105 DSA rimless tank I'm putting in my apartment. So my main concern is the "Transfer. I have about 60-70 live rock in the main display and a 1.5 sand bed so I'm not sure how much water volume is in this 50 cube. Also have a large sump (36x16x16) I plan on using for the upgrade. So my current 50 cube is located at my job and my upgrade tank is located at my apartment which is about 10-15 mins away. How should I go about the transfer? I know I will need to make about 50-60 gallons of saltwater or maybe more. I also have a lot of corals and fish. Which should I move first? Should I use all fresh new saltwater? Should I use current saltwater and then make up the rest? Should I add sand last or first. Add rock last or first? Help me out please Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Awesome post I just brought the same tank DSA 105 and I plan on moving all my livestock over from my 50 cube I'm following your footsteps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ok I will contact them to see what was this coral under. This coral is the only one that has done a color change. But I'm hoping once I get everything back to normal it will color back up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I haven't been tracking my water parameters which I know is bad so I'm gonna start this weekend I have Hanna checkers coming in for Cal and Alk and I can do nitrate test I'm just not big on testing smh but I know that's apart of reef keeping Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I didn't light acclimate. I have Radion XRW15 and how long should you acclimate them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I ordered some corals online (Acans) and was a wysiwyg item. So I knew exactly what I was getting. When when the coral arrived it looked exactly like the picture in my tank for the first 2 days now it's not the same color Ana I've done nothing different. This is a really nice piece and I want it to color back up to be my center piece and main focus. Can anybody offer advice or help on why this could have happened . Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. What type of camera are you using. I want to get a good camera but I don't wanna spend 1,000 when I have this coral addiction I rather buy more corals lol. Please help me out what do you recommend. I wanna go a step up from the Cannon T2i I used to own.
  21. Well after the Re Aqua scape I found a perfect spot for the RBTA. He didn't move from last night so I'm hoping he likes that spot. Keeping my fingers cross. He has his own rock for now (until I glue some corals to it lol). But he's doing great. I didn't see the clowns host the cup coral today. But they haven't taken the RTBA as their host home. So I'm hoping that this changes in the next coming days.
  22. Thank you Sunwyrm. At this point I will try anything lol. But today was rather strange in the tank. I actually saw the Bangii Cardinals guarding the cup coral from the clowns. For about 20 mins or so. I have (4) Bangii in the tank and the biggest one and his mate was keeping the clowns out of the cup coral. I tried to record but I was too late. So I end up finding the RBTA and Re-Aqua scape the tank. Not a lot but it was a change. I'm praying that the RBTA stays in this rock it's getting enough light with a cliff for shade. Hopefully he will settle in that spot and stay put [emoji848]. I like the new aqua scape because it allows more water movement through the rocks. I'm even thinking about putting a small power head on each end at the bottom to keep food from settling in the back of the rock work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Week 6: 11/22-11/28 So my 33rd birthday was this past thanksgiving Thursday and I'm so thankful for be learning and growing. So I had to treat myself to some eye candy even against my own judgment dealing with ick. So here goes Added fish and some corals (But my Clowns hosting my favorite corals [emoji31][emoji31]) Cup Coral from: The Marine scene Bam Bam Zoas from: Reef escape Some type of Red Zoas from: The Marine scene Light Green Yellow tip Torch corals from: Reef escape Purple Tip Torch coral from: Reef escape Multi Color Hammer from: Reef escape Light Green Hammer from: Reef escape Green Hammer from: Reef escape Rose Bubble Tip Anemone from: Reef escape Tri-Color Wrasse (Don't know the name) from: Dutchman Reef Although I've been battling ick all my fish are doing well. I got a wrasse which I've added last Sunday 11/15 and he's doing good no signs of ick (fingers cross). I took the advice of one of the fellow members and I've been feed in the fish more often and I started with Rod's food, also picked up some LRS Reef Frenzy. I got the chance to visit a local (not so local for me) fish store The Marine Scene. I must say very impressive store. I brought a few corals and food from there. My center piece and now one of my favorite corals I don't know what to do. I brought them a RBTA and its hiding in the right corner after I put it on the rock I wanted it to stay but knowing Anemones they do what the H-E-double hockey sticks they want. I don't even think the clowns know it's in the tank yet. It's only been 1 day so I will see how this goes. Other than that I'm still happy reef'n. Any advice for what's happening to my cup coral it's a beautiful center piece and I don't want it to stress cause they dumb ass clowns lol. Here's a video and some pics of the tank.
