  1. I never said my post were "all" quality.

I hope all the newer people to the club, maybe some lurkers, know that high post counts and an early join date doesn't equate to being an expert. Things change often in the hobby with new equipment and advancements in husbandry that no one is really an expert in this hobby. We are all here to learn from each other's experiences and sharing of informatiom. Please don't let post counts intimidate anyone from posting.

couple this with the fact that I forget something a couple of months after I learn it, and have to learn it all over again...

  2. We just think you are that important and we are so happy that you hit 300.

Not really, we just wanted to keep our post count up so you can't catch us.

    well played sir... well played.

  3. Congrats on becoming a "reefer". So what is the next milestone?

Hmm, I'm thinking of taking some kind of vacation to recharge the batteries, then come back strong and try to hit that "master reefer" status!  The trick is to do it with quality posts like this one, and not just a bunch of cheap posts to get the counter up lol.

Be the second one in the family to beat Ben10?

I would but my son doesnt allow me to play his 3DS...  selfish little punk :P

  4. And possibly the tallest?

    You got me there...

Its a real B**** to find pants that fit...  But my long reach allows me to work in my 110 deep dimension fairly easily!

  5. Smooth skinned acros, like an Acropora echinata. But, it was suggested by somebody else in the audience that you may get good performance from just dipping everything for 10 minutes. That's an option.

Please, just remember to rinse your corals in clean saltwater after the dipping procedure to get rid of any residual dip. You want to minimize what gets transferred to your tank.

Yes I had 2 clean buckets next to the bath.  After the 15 minutes I shook the coral in the first bucket and placed in the 3rd for transport.  The first bucket after all the corals were shook had  ALOT of crud in it.  It seemed to work well.

  6. Did anyone use that insecticide dip that was being sold in the little white bottles for $1? How did it go? I was afraid to try it, so I didn't get any (used a Kent product).

I used it right away on all of the FFE corals, and I plan on taking all of my corals out and dipping them as well.  But does anyone remember which coral he said to do only 10 minutes instead of 15?

  7. Yes, same as above.  Thanks to all!!! It was a great time.  And to whoever accidentally took home my bucket lid...  what gives bro? :P  (I probably just didnt find it, I'm the typical guy that sucks at looking for things)

When I got home and my wife saw how many frags I had, she almost lost it thinking I spent hundreds of dollars lol.  nope only had to pay for a few, WHAT AN EVENT!  WAMAS is AMAZING!

oh and my son beat his Ben10 video game while there, thats a big milestone for him too.  So, thanks to eveyone for your support in not interupting his 3DS playing...

  8. Also, interestingly...  They do not do well out of water.  I found my missing chromis on the ground no where near my tank, and he was dead!

seriously though.  I bought 6 to start with, and two of them were jerks and killed the rest.  Now obviously I only have one.  He never picks on other fish though.

  9. Has anyone ever thought of using a dehumidifier that drains back into the ATO resevoir?  That might take care of the moister problem, but I don't know the quality of water that comes out of the "dehumidifying" process; if its something you want back in your tank...

I use one in my basement that drains into the deep sink, I run it for 4 hours a day during the peak ours of my lighting.  It has definately decreased the moisture caused by the tank, but it is also pulling water out of the tank a little faster than normally.  RO/DI filters are cheaper than warped floor boards I say...

  10. I went there about a month and a half ago on my lunch break from Bethesda and what a waste of time.

The "boss" was there but after waiting for him to finish with another customer who, I actually had to ask him "Could you help me?"  (I was the ONLY customer in the shop at that point in time) I asked about having some kalkwasser then had to say it was the calcium supplement and he pulled this faded color, dusty, Kent Marine kalk bottle from the shelf and it was super expensive.

Nothing in the store is arranged in an easy manner, their prices are on par with Congressional and Aquarium One, it stinks (and not from the fish but from the other animals and mold), and they are the most unfriendly people I've seen at the local LFS's.  They should probably also think about removing the old lead-based paint from the stairway going down.

I'd not recommend this place to anyone.

this was very close to my experience there a few months ago.
