  1. I actually started a thread with your question in the public general interest forum...I would post the link but im on my phone. The thread is less than a week old so it shouldn't be buried too.far down. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Thanks guys, Lowe's came through with some good cuts. My only issue is now that my stand is a few inches too short to fit everything I want within the stand. Please let me know if you've got a 75g stand around which is around 34 inches tall! I've posted this in the WTB forum with my phone number in case anyone can help.
  3. and do you run your pumps while they are sitting in the mix(vinegar or muriatic acid)?
  4. Do you let the pumps and powerheads run in the mix or do you just do a soak, then rinse with water afterwards?
  5. How much vinegar per gallon of water should I be using when cleaning pumps and powerheads?
  6. My sump is only 29g so the thin glass is no big deal. Lowes in sterling did a great job on the cuts! Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  7. I will definitely call....hopefully people will keep posting places. I would love to have plenty of backup plans...
  8. Hopefully the Lowes in Sterling can come through for me....I'll probably give that a shot first. Hopefully everything will work out because I'm super sick of this 55g and can't wait to get into the 75g and finally have a little room to work with haha
  9. I'm trying to get the last things together for my tank transfer....the last thing I need is the pieces of glass to baffle my sump. I live in Vienna, but Vienna Glass went out of business and I have no idea where else does the same type of stuff. Anyone have any suggestions in the general Vienna/Fairfax/McLean area?? I'll drive wherever I have to so I can buy the glass and get it cut tomorrow morning.
  10. Thanks for the info! My next question is....where can I get the glass cut to size around the Vienna/McLean/Tysons area? Vienna Glass isn't in business any longer and I'm not sure of any other places around here.
  11. Has anyone used a mcdonalds straw or anything like that to direct the silicon directly to the spot? Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  12. I get what your saying I think...does that not smear silicon on the tank and possibly get it messy? Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I am trying to make a bubble trap before the return chamber of the sump, but how to you guys get the silicon down between the baffles?? Any simple item to help squeeze the stuff down there?
  14. That sounds pretty solid Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Hmmm we don't have a rug in that room so it has to be something that doesn't look out if place.....hopefully someone has a good cheap suggestion which doesn't involve any extra effort haha Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  16. What kind of mat should I use to protect the floor from any water or moisture damage and where can I find it? Not sure if there is a preferred material or that type of thing.... Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  17. That is definitely helpful...I will probably just stick with the refractometer after seeing the comments compared to the price of the upgrade and all. Which of the PH calibration fluids do I need to get? I see they have 4.0 7.0 and 10.0.....
  18. and I mean in a way that someone without a Ph.D would understand lol
  19. I think I may have finally clarified my own questions: I will need a PM2 module along with a conductivity probe, and to purchase all calibration fluid separately from what I can tell. hopefully someone will chime in if I'm incorrect! Also, is there a link anyone can provide which would explain the whole ORP subject?
  20. I've been slowly accumulating all the things I need to get my terrible 55g system transferred into a fresh 75g setup which will be much cleaner. My last and final purchase towards having what I want is the Neptune systems Apex. I do have a question or two to make sure I purchase everything I need to this week, since I'd like to have the transfer complete over this coming weekend. I already know I want to have the full range of feature for when I switch to dimmable lights down the road, and also want to have the PH probe, salinity probe, and temperature probes. I don't really understand the ORP so will probably pass on that for now. Based on looking on the marine depot website, I'm having a little trouble figuring out what exactly comes with the Apex controller. So far I can tell it comes with the following probes: -PH probe -Temp probe I need to monitor salinity in addition to these two probes. Is the salinity probe the conductivity probe, and if not what is the probe I need for salinity? Do I need an add on to the apex unit in order to connect the salinity probe? Does the apex package come with calibration fluid for the PH and temperature probes? Will the salinity probe some with calibration fluid or do I need to get all these calibration fluids separately? I'm hoping some of the apex users can point me in the right direction....thanks in advance!! I will have to do my best to actually take pictures of the progression of the transfer since I haven't made a tank log on here yet...
  21. 4ft T-5 bulbs are the 56 watt bulbs.....that's the same sort of fixture.im running except with 6 4 ft 56w bulbs Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

  23. Letting this thread fester for several days before making a defensive response was probably not the best strategy based on the negativity of the word being spread. Sorry for both sides in this mess. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  24. You're too nice I would have definitely denied payment. I thought about giving him a call for some help with some things but after hearing of this, not a chance. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
