  1. Hey guys, I am having a feeding problem with my two wild perculas. I feed them new life spectrum and they don't seem to like it. I have had them for 2 weeks now, they are healthy, no itch spots or anything... I tried to feed them Mysis Shrimp but they would swallow and spit that too. Day long, they swim around and seem to feed on small things that are in the water but they don't actually eat them either. What could be a good food alternative? I wanted to get some suggestions. M.
  2. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks everyone for their replies tho. I feel exactly the same about "reef luck". Somethings work and some things don't work. I have been lucky so far tho. My bro is a marine biologist and he tells me that all the time! lol M.
  3. I know you can find big pieces of salt at whole foods. lol
  4. thanks for the input. I read many things about anemones and some people say that they need a MH or equivalent whereas other people think that with the stable and excellent water quality they can be kept in any tank. My water quality is excellent so far. No Nitrates or Phosphates whatsoever. I use Chemi Pure Elite for that tho.
  5. btw the rock anemone is happier than ever. I feed him with some shrimp every week and he is almost 3" big. Has beautiful colors too, a neon green and snow white tentacles, but the Clowns won't even go near it. Apparently it won't host for any fish...
  6. Nanocustoms 3.24 for 14g Biocube (72 w) what do you think this would provide? Any nicer corals that I can keep or a host bubble anemone for my Clownies?
  7. What are the ways to upgrade my stock lighting without changing the top that came with my biocube? Or should I modify everything and put a new top? i was also thinking of getting a Sunpod Nano with MH as well. How well do you think that would do? I don't want to make fish soup either if Sunpod puts out a lot of heat. ideas? Thanks for the answers guys. M.
  8. Well that sucks then. I had a long tentacle anemone before, it was very happy with the water and the lighting but started to roam around and touching other stuff so I had to lose it. Since I can't go for a lighting upgrade soon (financial reasons as all of you would understand) do you think I should try the bubble? M.
  9. I have the stock lighting: 1 Coralife 10,000K 24Watt Compact Fluorescent lamp 1 Coralife Actinic 24Watt Compact Fluorescent lamp 2
  10. Hey, I am in search for a nice house for my two lovely False Perculas. I have been looking around to find a nice anemone but no luck so far. I already have a rock anemone in my 14 gal tank but the fish are not even remotely interested in it . I was thinking of getting a bubble tip anemone (maybe this http://www.reefhotspot.com/store/product_i...oducts_id=5526) but I wanted to get opinions first. I am asking for your expert advice since I still am a newbie in this field. Thanks, M.
  11. Where in the Mediterranean did you see them? Spain or closer to inland sees like Greece or Turkey?
  12. AWESOME!!!! I wanna be a fish in that tank! Boy, those zoos have amazing colors! Good work! Mehmet
  13. This is just a suggestion: what about PayPal? Do they have PayPal or would be willing to open a PayPal account just for this transaction? It takes 2 mins to open one and you can send the money and still hold the money pending and release the payment when you receive the tank. Another solution that comes to mind, or at least I would do, is to take a road trip to wherever these people are if you could. I know it is more money spend for the travel arrangements but what if you send the rest of the money and they decide not to send the tank. Reefoholic
  14. Hey guys, I have a question. After reading about hair algae some I am literally lost and I don't have a clue about what to do to get rid of it. I am monitoring the test results of my water and so far it is as follows consistently: PH 8.2 Nitrate 0 Ammonia 0 Temp. 78 Calcium 420 Carbonate 8 Phosphate 0 Do you think because of the Hair Algae the Nitrate and Phosphate levels are this low? How can I get rid of this stubborn green inhabitant? Thanks...
  15. I posted some new pics guys. I couldn't figure out how to add pictures to this thread so I added some to the gallery section. Please check them out and let me know what you think.
  16. Awesome! Well done! It makes me very happy to see at least someone trying to revive and conserve the reefs we have. Hopefully in a couple of years enthusiasts like me will have more reefs to visit. Thanks for sharing this video.
  17. Thanks. Hopefully it will look better in the months to come I wanna add some more pics to this thread but i can't for some reason. I also unplugged Roscoe's and placed in up, closer to light. Added the PS and UV Sterilizer too.
  18. thanks for the welcome. Do you think I can unplug the coral? Would that harm the coral you think?
  19. Thanks! I thought of doing that as well. I dunno what to do with its plug tho. That's the only place on that live rock with a whole big enough for Roscoe's plug to go in.
  20. Hello everyone, I am a newbie. I have always wanted to have a reef tank, so now my dream is becoming a reality. I am starting a 14 gal Oceanic Biocube. I am a student in DC and I am sure you understand how limited my space is as well as my budget, lol. So far everything is going great. I waited for the tank to cycle for almost 2 months and introduced hermit crabs, a shrimp and 3 snails before I introduced my corals. Right now, - although the tank looks empty - there are couple of polyps in there, along with a montipora coral, 3 stalks of Xenia and my baby Roscoe's Blue Coral from ORA (fingers crossed for survival with stock lighting - 10K 24 W actinic and 50/50 PCs). I introduced two little Wild False Percula Clown Fishes yesterday (They look very happy). I have changed the stock pump with a MJ900 and today my PS and UV Sterilizer are arriving. Now all i need is a little lock and more reef inhabitants (coral donations are always appreciated). I am attaching couple of pictures of the tank. Please let me know what you think. Mehmet
