  1. Thanks for the Chateo offer. I would love to come pick it up sometime... I have couple more questions: (I know I am bugging you guys with all these questions, yet there is so much information out there, and everybody is saying something different ) How much elevated should the rocks be? Also, if I point a water pump like Koralia nano under the rocks, wouldn't that move the sand as well? What do you think? i was thinking of buying an egg crate and setting the rocks on top of it. This way they could be fully supported, unlike the pipes, and water can flow without disturbing the sand... Also, does anybody have any suggestions for a suitable light fixture for the chateo? How many watts do you think is enough??
  2. Concerning phosphate removers, what do you think is the most effective? Brightwell Aquatics Phosphat R or D-D RowAphros Phosphate Removal Media ? I am also considering putting the rocks up on pipes and redesigning the flow in the tank like sen5241b. I think I am gonna give it a go and buy some more cheato for the second compartment. I have that 20W light fixture that I am hoping to be enough for the cheatos... What do you think?
  3. can you post some pictures of your tank so I can see what you have done? I am desperately trying to get rid of the algae. So the rocks are not even on the sand?
  4. I have Chemi-Pure Elite in the second chanber right below the chetao. As for the algae eaters I have a yellow tang but he doesn't even touch the algae on the rocks. He nibbles on the snails and hermit crabs, sometimes the sand... The water that I use is premixed water that I get from Pristine Aquarium. I never had problem before, but for a couple of weeks the algae bloomed everywhere. The tank is up and running for about 9 months now. And here are some pics... Thanks for your help btw, I am gonna go crazy with this algae problem soon. It is covering the whole place and there must be a solution to this...
  5. I tried the macro algae way for some time but honestly the algae on the rocks and on the sand feeds from something I can't figure out. I am not overfeeding, and I am doing regular water changes. What do you think could be the reason? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!
  6. The water flow is tru the screen. And the light fixture rests right on top. Here are some pictures... I am not sure if this will work, or should I try to install everything in a SUMP?
  7. Hey everyone,Here are some pictures of the components of an ATS that I am trying on my BioCube. I drilled extra holes on the original BioCube cap and covered it with the window screen. I also installed the light, which is 20W, on the hood and dropped a cheato in the second chamber. The light is on non-stop and I am hoping to cultivate some algae on the screen, and with the help of cheato I am hoping to get rid of the hair algae covering the rocks and green dust algae on the glass.Any ideas? Should I build a SUMP and try to incorporate ATS there? Thanks...
  8. I think I have the exact same creatures in my tank. Their behavior is very similar, they appear at night on the sand or on the rock and they almost look like shrimps when you look at them closely. Mine has tiny legs all through their torso and they curl a little towards the end. I will try to catch some to put pictures up but they are really quick. I always wondered what they were. I thought they were copepods however they don't have big enough antennas. Nothing to be worried about I assume. My coral are doing fine... I haven't detected any harm that they do/would do, yet...
  9. It is not hosting in an anemone or coral, and the water parameters are almost perfect. I do weekly water changes, the Ph is 8.2, the temp is constant at 77F, zero ammonia and Nitrates and phosphates... I honestly don't know what is wrong. I feed him New Life Spectrum and he seems to like it a lot. I also use Chemi-Pure Elite and active carbon filtration. The corals are doing good, they are growing day by day. I am also having a hair algae problem which I brush off (with a dedicated toothbrush) every 2 weeks. The hair algae is not all over the tank but there are certain spots that it springs even after the most thorough cleaning. Do you think this is a sign that something is off with the water? BTW, the Cal levels are always btw 400 and 460 ppm. Thanks for all your help.
  10. No ideas anyone? In addition to the white marks, his color is not real vibrant either, I dunno what is wrong?! He eats well, swims well... Any help appreciated highly... Thanks.
  11. My clownie looks and eats really healthy. He goes around all day, curiously swims and pokes at stuff but as it got bigger, some white spots appeared on his skin. You can see them in the pictures below. What do you think this could be? Anything serious?
  12. Hey everyone, Here are some new pictures of my tank - 3 Months old almost-. The corals that I got from Mr.Coral are doing great. I think everybody likes their place in the tank. Please send me you commends, suggestions and ideas. Enjoy! Mehmet
  13. How much should I raise the calcium? i think i am gonna get a Starry too...
  14. The tank looks really nice. Looking at the test results, you have already started the cycle at a good spot. I can't wait to see the tank in couple of months. M.
  15. Hey, What are good options for hair algae eaters for a 14 gal tank? I know I can't do tangs but I would love to have some grazing fish. I love watching them picking at rocks... Ideas? Suggestions? Mehmet
  16. Amazing pics! Awesome looking corals...
  17. that is a good idea! Instead can I combine new life spectrum, mysis and garlic and feed them you think? M.
  18. I think I found out the reason that they had less of an appetite. I used to leave the moon-leds on all night and I think they couldn't go to sleep and relax. I turn the moon-leds off last night and this morning they are livelier and they ate with a big appetite. I'll monitor this for couple of days. What do you guys think? Could this be the reason? M.
  19. Thanks very much for your help. When I get my anemone I will try to demonstrate all these. Since I only have too much space in my 14 gal biocube there is one column. I will attach a pic for better understanding. Maybe you can check and suggest a suitable space.... BTW Roscoe's Blue is not there anymore... It is up on the top of the rock!
  20. The clowns kinda call this one spot on the right side of the tank home. It is away from the powerhead but close to the bottom filter intake. I will try to figure out something. So there is no way of placing the anemone at the place I want?! I have read somewhere that if you place the anemone on the spot you want and wait for the settle a while and feed it, the anemone is more likely not to roam. M.
  21. I understand. I was thinking of a nice, medium flow corner, not in the front but towards the back of the tank, shielded by the rock. Obviously the anemone will determine the spot as far as I know. OR is there any way I can make the anemone stay at the spot i want? I had bad experiences with a roaming anemone before.
  22. What do you mean by introduction? The fishes are already in the tank. how should i introduce the anemone you think?
