  1. I don't really know where to post this so I will just put it here. Two things, 1. I can't believe the difference in the colors and the look of my corals after using the Evergrow lights. I was using T-5's Wow. What a difference! 2. One of the ballasts blew after a month or so. A new one was immediately sent out, at my option, I think it was bad too, I sent the whole thing back, I did pay shipping both ways, total of $30 bucks and the unit was returned in record time. I have to admit I was skeptical of "cheap" LEDS. I have had a 60" blow a ballast and was told "good luck with that" and have just slew a ballast on Marineland reef ready LED. IT seems the LED's last for years but the ballasts are still dicy. Anyway, If you have any doubts about customer service on the Evergrow - They are the Best!
  2. I am looking to put a new skimmer in a 200 gallon tank. I ordered a Bubble King Super Marin 200 a month ago and it arrived with the pump housing broken. I have since been trying to get the pump replaced. Long story short - the retailer has finally suggested I return the skimmer because neither I nor them can get a straight answer from the distributer as to when the replacement will arrive. So, any suggestions on a really good skimmer?
  3. I started out with one RBTA. I now have 6 from the original, all natural splits. Sometimes, they are equal size, but once the split resulted in a tiny one. I don't hink it even had a mouth. However, it too has grown and become a regular size. The coolest split, and the only one I observed, was when I changed tanks and one of them pulled itself apart over a rock shortly afterward. Wish I had filmed it. The original RBTA in the tank had gotten pulled into a power head and all that was left was a piece of the foot about as big as a thumbnail. I was sick with the mess and thought i would scrape that off the next day. Decided to let it stay since it was alive, and now 6 anemones later....
  4. Holy Cow. She just laid eggs again. The last batch was 12 days ago. The little guy is swimming over them like he is doing his thing, but I can't tell if he is releasing anything.
  5. Don't think they hatched in one day. Only other fish in there is another small percula clown who NEVER goes close to the egg rock. The little guy may have eaten them. He seemed to be 'attending' them very vigorously.
  6. Eggs are all gone this morning. :(
  7. Yep. The have a little silvery tip to them.
  8. Woke up yesterday morning with lots of tiny snails on the glass. Very tiny snails. I have seen egg clusters lots of times before. I had some that laid eggs on everything but never any baby snails. DIdn't see any egg clusters this time. They alldiasppared shortly after the lights came on but they are back this morning. Yipee. I think they must be 'good' snails since they are busy on the glass. Any idea what they are? They are too small too see any morphology and, of course, I am seeing the underside of the snails.
  9. Well, she laid another batch of eggs last night. We'll see if the little guy has come of age yet.
  10. Thanks Decadence, I'll try Petco for the Gracilaria, and Sharky since you don't have much it would probably be best to let yours keep growing. However, if you are coming to the meeting, I would like a little Ulva, if you could spare it. And yes, a Ulva scrapper does sound a little inappropriate.
  11. Anyone currently growing or have successfully grown Red Gracilaria? I hear that they are great tang food. I had two yellow tangs that loved Nuri, but I have a hippo that seems indifferent to it. Nibbles on it a bit, but not much and not often. I've thought of buying some Ulva / Red Gracilaria and trying to grow them out to feed the new Hippo. Any suggestions /pointers would be appreicated. Also, do any of the local LFS's carry either or both? Thanks
  12. Thanks. I thougt he iwas too but don't know at what size (age) they get sexually mature.
  13. I had a Clarkii that spawned by her self. I felt a little guilty that "her clock was ticking", so I added a tiny Clarkii. It bonded with a small Oscellaris in the same tnak and they were sharing a RBTA that had a run-in with a power head. Today the large Clarkii successfully woed the tiny one to her RBTA's (she has three) and they are now furiously cleaning the rock where the large Clarkii had previously laid the eggs. My question is, how large does the male have to be to fertilize the eggs, should there be any? He really is tiny, about one and one-half inches. I would think he is still a juvenile but does the size matter? Can he be a functional male?
  14. I have a Clarkii clown that was paired with a female. They got into a terrible fight and this one was banished to the end of the tank and not allowed to come past a certain point. I took her out and put her in a tank with a Oscellaris. It's been several months. They pretty much ignore each other, except on occasion the Clarkii will slide over and give the Oscellaris the stink eye. The Clarkii just laid a bunch of eggs. They only lasted a couple of days and were gone. Is that unusual or will female clowns lay eggs regardless of whrther they have mates?
