  5. I'm using a Canon Powershot A80 with a filter and the camera is on a tripod. The use of the filter and tripod have improved my pictures but I still can't get them as sharp as I would like. I have tried messing with the white balance. Taking pictures with room lights on and off. Truning off pumps etc. these are the best pictures I have taken so far.
  6. I have about 200lbs of it that I'm not going to use. I would be willing to trade it for some macro algae, a pound or 2 of live sand, a frag or anything else you may have, but I will be out town all next week (going to Sea world) so we would have to meet after then. PM me if you're interested. I'm in Germantown MD
  7. I have a rio 800 that I can bring If anyone wants it after the meeting they can have it. I was planning to put it on the free table anyways. Chris
  8. I got a frag from you in early april it was 2 2" stalks, Now it has nearly tripled in size Each stalk has branched off into at least 2 or 3 Has not dropped any branches yet, but it's showing signs that it will soon 20h tank with 2 55w pc lights 10g fuge Bioassay salt Excalibur skimmer frag is about 5" from the light in a low flow area I target feed it some powdered food that Grav gave to me (not sure what it is called, but it works great) he said it was intended for gut loading brine shrimp.
  9. I will go to the Lfs tomorrow to see what they have. CJM033 If they don't have any Stomatellas I will definately go for a few of yours. Thanks, Chris
  10. Hey thanks, I will try the cerith snails, and maybe a small gobie. Anyone else have any suggestions?
  11. Since taking my sailfin tang out of my 20h I have noticed more hair algae growing both on the live rock and the sand bed. What could I add to the tank to keep up with this algae? here's my current set up: I have used RO water since day 1 Excalibur skimmer (rated for 150G) 2 mj 1200's for water movement 10G refugium under the tank with chaeto, and 3-4"" of southdown Cleanup crew: 4 turbo snails 4 red leg hermits 6 blue leg hermits I have 2x55w pc lights on the tank now but will be replacing them with a 150w hqi setup soon, and want to prevent the algae from getting out of control when I get the new lights.
  12. Bill, When I had that sailfin he was in the tank with a Royal Gramma. They got along great. I would also reccomend some type of cardinal (preferably a Bengaii or Pajama). Chris
  13. Thanks everyone After reading a little bit I decided I should save up to get some new ones with electronic ballasts instead. It seems like I would have more bulb options, less heat, and a lower electric bill that way. I'm not planning to set the tank up for another year anyways, so I may as well take the time and get the best stuff I can so I'm not buying again later. Chris
  14. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=26219&item=3810822784&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Has anyone ever used this type of light over their tank? What bulbs will this fire. Is it worth the time and trouble to set these up or should I look into getting something else? The guy says he will sell them to me for 45.00 each if I pick them up.
  15. here is a much cheaper option for a generator http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=4625 It's not great, but it's better than nothing.
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58145&item=3809023083&rd=1 I'm not sure if this is a good deal or not, but maybe someone may want to get these. The bulbs are only 4100k though.
  17. That sounds like a really good idea, I will do that tonight. Thanks for the advice, and the sand, I really apreciate it. Chris
  18. Thanks for the help everyone. I decided to put 1 baffle in the sump to keep algae and sand out of the pump. Considering it is a 10g tank how deep should the sandbed be. I am thinking about putting in 4" Does this sound like a good amount of sand? Thanks
  19. The water is fed into the fuge through a fitting that I drilled into the back of the tank. similar to this one: http://marinedepot.com/aquarium_plumbing_parts_fittings_2.asp#bh The pump is 39" from the floor to the top of the tank. It has a steady flow rate, but I'm not sure how much actual flow it has with that height. What size sand should I use should it be fine or coarse, or a combo of both? I will go to HD today, and pick up some acrylic for the baffles. Should I get Southdown for the fuge too if they have it, or should I get something from the LFS? Thanks
  20. I am setting up a refugium for a 20h tank. I have a 10 gallon tank under the stand, I don't have the option of putting it above the tank. This is what I have so far: Maxjet 1200 as a return pump. main tank is drilled with a bulkhead installed. a screw in type florescent light bulb (75watts from HD) the refugium is empty right now. Should I put any dividers in the fuge? What kind of substrate, and how deep should it be? Is a 10g fuge big enough or should I just use it as a sump? What are the best tpes of algae to put in it? does the maxjet have the right amount of flow? Any other suggestions? Thanks, any help is appreciated. I am new to WAMAS, and hope to meet everyone at the next meeting Chris :p
