  3. I'm doing Royal grammas, snails, crabs, and who the heck knows what else. Chip
  4. I can wait, you can pay when you pick up. Nope, haven't decided against a package deal or for one for that matter. I'm easy. CALLING ALL ORDERS. WHO'S IN? Chip
  5. I'm working on my order and have a few questions. Whos's paying upfront and how are we going to split it up? I can order, pay and have shipped to my shop which I've done a number of times before. I work/live in Mclean and can have people over to pick up at our house or shop. Someone may go home with some frags. Wednesdays work best for me but understand I'm not the only one ordering. My order alone will be at least $60.00. Chip
  6. I can't ssem to log on to reeftopia right now. The packs are like 100 astreas 100 BL hermits 100 other kind of snails etc. It's like a clean up crew if you will. I bought from them 1 month ago and silly me assumed you were interested in that.:D I'll log on later and get back to you. We own a flower shop in McLean so it's easy to ship to. More later, Chip
  7. Maybe we can split a #1 or #2 We just need to work out the logistics of arrival. I can cover the 79.00 difference it takes to get it here and we divy up accordingly.
  8. It's a 220h and in a finnished basement room. I need less than 10deg pull down. I'm at champions site now. Thanks
  9. I need a new chiller and am very dissapointed Aquanetics is no longer around. I did a search in this site which prompts me to ask this question: What chiller are you using and do you have a web link to it so I can get more info on it to help me decide. I have a 220H and use halides/03s. I'm thinking 1/4hp - 1/3hp. Thanks, Chip
  10. In the past. I had a similar thing happen to a piece of my coral. I too fraged some and then gave each frag a fresh water dip along with the colony. Had very good success with it and several times with a percula clowns and white puffy stuff. The only thing I do to the water is declor and temp match. I dunked each piece for as long as 30 seconds and fish slightly longer. Chip
  11. rippling That's the word I was looking for. You want to have enough movement in your tank to cause the water surface to "ripple". That way you get good gas/water exchange and oxygenate the water to near saturation. Your bity reef will be much more stabile in the long run. Thus ...... less expensive. Good luck, Chip
  12. Welcome, IMO, You should have strong water movement at all levels of the aquarium which in turn would create lots of "swirls/waves" on the water surface. This is critical to gas xchange. No film at any part should be present on the waters surface. Look up through the tank at the surface. In the rock area you will have lower flow which is fine and often a good thing for the inhabs. Several powerheads pulsed or a nice strong one on a pulse would work. I bet most have at least a 2 degree temp swing. Flow on and enjoy, the best is yet to come Chip
  13. I'm looking to get more mangrove plants. Anyone seen these offered lately and where? Anyone else have good experience with them? Chip
  14. I built a downdraft 8 years ago and still use it. Not bad to make and works like heck. I'm looking at a calcium reactor now.
  15. I painted the heck out of it with "under hood" black paint. It didn't work as well as I had hoped so I have to keep it clean. Kind of like an enclosed "ship wreck". :D I cut back on the molybdinum also :p Bottom line......... It works great
  16. I took some angle iron and made braces and siliconed them in place. Then took the clamps off and voawla, no more bow. Worked for me and my hood covers it because I made it. Chip
  17. What are " pfo reflectors " anyway. I've seen it in this post. I now have 2 metal braces on my 220 because the plastic braces broke. The bulbs where not even over them in the 7 years I've had this 220. I believed the UV, the heat, combined made them brittle. Have seen this before, and actually heard the second of my braces go "pop" and it started to bow fast. My bulbs are 12" over the water surface but I'm dropping them to 8" with the new hood. That's what happened the me. So what are these pfo reflectors?
  18. If you put a 250w halide over that center brace start the timer. When it goes ding.........your center brace got brittle, broke and the tank is starting to become the latest rage... a "bowfront" and by the way, a bowback. :D Consider putting 2 on one side of the brace and one close to the other 2 on the other side of the brace. Then place low light corals at the now "slightly" lower light end. Just a thought, Chip
  19. OIC, that's the one in the pics on CMAS. thought it was the 120. Good for you. I too would like the 30-36 wide but with the 30deep. I hope to sneak to the wamas meeting for a short time. I work Saturdays but they know I want to check this out, and I do own the place I'm anxious to meet wetheads on this side of the river.
  20. Hey va_ If you haven't gotten the 180 yet come take a peek at my 220. It's schweeet! 6" taller and well worth it. IMO
  21. The last time I was in Tropical Lagoon in Silver Spring they had 200g IO for $50.00. They still had a few of the 200g buckets left but that was early in this month.
