Hi there, has any of you purchased one of the Marineland deep-corner tank (36" deep)? I am considering the purchase of the 300Ga version (72x36x27) and would like to have your opinion about the tank. Thanks Eric

Where do you get your live rock from? I am looking for live rock for a 220Ga tank. Online or local retailer? Price (obviously) is important. Thanks Eric

Thanks Will do. Eric

Hello all and thanks for your feedback. I should have been more explicit in my wishes. I am trying to get a tank either rimless or with euro brass (not sure of the spelling). The black silicon would be a nice addition as algae would be much less visible on them (compared to transparent silicon). I understand that the size 72x24x24 is pretty much standard but they predominantly come with 2 side overflow. I'd rather like to have a central overflow. Related to acrylic vs glass. I like the fact that glass is less scratch-able than acrylic. Its maintenance is therefore easier unless things have changed and there are good ways to maintain an acrylic aquarium. Glasscage is not an option for me after reading the various threads and horror stories. I also have seen one of their aquarium and found the finish to be subpar. No good adjustment, polished edges non uniform etc. Needless to say I was not impressed. I am somewhat demanding when it is question of finish. Thanks Eric

Hi There, I am looking into getting a glass tank with about the following sizes: 72"x24"x24". I do not think I can get that type of tanks from a local fish store unless it is custom. Aquarium obsession seemed an option when I looked months ago. Obviously there are been several issues. Does anybody have an address (local or not) where well built large tanks can be purchased. My wishes are black silicon with a central location for the overflow. Thanks Eric

Thanks zygote2k for your feedback. if it's 100$ for having it tested etc. I'll go for it as well but I have not found anybody that would do that for $100. If you have an address, I would appreciate. Thanks Eric

Hi There, I purchased some time ago a chiller and now realize that it needs to be refilled. What is the cheapest way to get this chiller refilled. I know I could have this done by an A/C technician but they are extremely expensive. Does anyone has done this at a low cost? The unit is using R-134a. Thanks Eric

I have heard some good things about the Custom Obsessed Aquariums but would like to have a look at the build quality. I would appreciate if somebody with such an aquarium would allow me to visit. Thank you Eric

I need to redo my overflows on my 125gallons aga but can not remember the sizes of the 2 bulkheads. As I do not want to empty the overflow right now, I would appreciate if somebody knows the overflow and return bulkhead sizes. Thanks Eric

Issues with introduction of anemone and maroon clown fish
elm66 replied to elm66's topic in New to the Hobby
I do not seem overly protective ... I think. It is correct that I had put the anemone in the clown's territory and was also thinking in putting the anemone in the opposite corner to check if it makes a difference. I may also try to extract the clowns (not too easy) and put them in a separate small tank. Thanks for your feedbacks. I will keep adding on this thread if I see things changing. Eric -
Thanks all of you. I will contact some of the vendors to inquire about prices. www.glasscages.com also seem an option. I have not compared yet their prices to the one of standard manufacturers. Eric

Hi there, I recently acquired an RBTA anemone and thought this would please my mated maroon clown fish. They have been in my tank for at least 1.5years without any anemone. Unfortunately upon acclimatization of the anemone, they rushed into it, with the male pulling one tentacle and the female somewhat hitting the envelop of the anemone as it retracted. I isolated the anemone in a plastic container in order to avoid the clowns interference. It reopened nicely and I decided after a day in the container to put it back in the tank. Of course the couple, again rushed in. I had hope that the night would have been quieter for the anemone but found it this morning, completely retracted (obviously trying to survive). I put it back into the plastic container. I am fearing for its survival if I put it back into the tank. Has anybody experienced such problem? and found a solution. I know the maroons can be fairly rough. I would appreciate any feedback, as I do need to find a solution because the anemone needs to be fed and I can not leave it in the plastic container for a long time. Thanks Eric PS: the container is a transparent usual food container in which I have drilled small holes. It is wedged in between the glass and a rock.

Was wandering where to buy locally a large aquarium at a good price. Is there an online option not too onerous with the shipping? I am thinking about a 72" with a depth of 24" and * height or more. I also have seen mention of very deep tanks from Marineland 36" x 36". Where can they be found locally. Thanks Eric

I have a 125gallons reef aquarium and have another scratched tank that I am planning on using as a refugium / sump. I want to relocate anything related to filters and reactor within the additional tank. I will also put another 30 gallons tank as quarantine/algae tank. The filter can overflow within the tank or the tank can be entirely separated (quarantine). I am planning to make the various separators out of plastic or glass. I will go for the cheapest as long as it can be glued properly to the glass aquarium. Of course, the material must also be compatible with salt water. I am attaching a few images for your comment and would appreciate any idea on the type of plastic I could use for the various separator. Thanks for any help Eric

Hi there, I am looking to buy some Nori (dry seaweed) in Viriginia if possible and can not seem to find the standard version. I only find roasted version ... which is not good. Would appreciate any help on that matter. Thank you Eric

Thanks all for the quick reply. I will get to BRK and try out on a piece of glass. Thanks again for the quick replay. Eric

Hi there, I got a 30Gallons Glass tank that I would like to transform into a refugium. To do so I need to drill on the side of the aquarium a 3/4" or 1" hole. Unfortunately, I have neither the equipment, nor the knowledge to perform such a task without breaking the glass tank. I would appreciate any help from somebody with the equipment and knowledge ... if possible in the Northern Virginia region. Thanks, Eric

Hoops forgot to add some basic info: It is a 125 Gallons tank with 3x250W halides + 4xT5 54W actinite. The Hallides are on 6.5 hours a day and the actinite 9 hours. The algae is a recent phenomenon. They are green/brown a little hairy and in the course of the day, little gas bubbles appear. The ph is 8.20 and temperature up to 81F. I just came back from a 2 weeks trip and have not had the chance to check for nitrate/nitrite, PO4 levels. Will do tomorrow. Amount the inhabitants: 1 big sohal, 3 blue hippos, 2 maroon clowns, 1 damsel , 1 mandarin and 3 cleaners. The corals seem to be doing Ok. Thanks Eric

I am looking for a fish/invertebrae that could control some algae growth in my tank. I have 3 blue hippo and 1 sohal ... None of those is eating the algae. Of course a yellow tank may help ... but problems may arise with the sohal and the 3 blue hippos. Thanks for any advice. Eric
