Newbie012000 July 17, 2018 Share July 17, 2018 Has anyone experienced this or know what is happening? I bought a pre owned 265 almost a year ago that has never been used. It never had water in it and still had the original manufacturer stickers. No sign of any prior use It sat in my basement for 8 months on several 2x4s Today I moved to a new residence and when we lifted the tank upright, I noticed a brown oily substance running down the outside of the bottom glass (small amount) It seemed to be coming from the corner of the bottom frame I have no idea what this could be. To my knowledge the glass is held by silicone so I don’t think I have to worry about leaks Are the frames glued on? Could the glue or adhesive began to deteriorate some how and liquify? Any help is appreciated. Please... I cooked my rocks for 5 months and I am now scared to set the tank up until I know what is going on I may set it up in the garge with fresh water for a month to observe before placing it in my living room Thanks in advance for for comments or experience. KyleGustafson22 July 17, 2018 Share July 17, 2018 Perhaps it was condensation that collected on some gunk and it mixed into the oily substance that youre talking about? I'm not sure, Ive never heard of this though with any brand of tank. Do you have a picture by chance?
Newbie012000 July 17, 2018 Author Share July 17, 2018 Yeah I’ll post a pic later. I’m thinking that at some point it may have been flat on the carpet and some type of condensation developed. I plan to perform a water test in my garage for 2 weeks before running it in the house.
gmerek2 July 17, 2018 Share July 17, 2018 I could see how my trim would collect moisture at some point. Then getting squeezed out when moved
Newbie012000 July 18, 2018 Author Share July 18, 2018 Thx everyone. I believe that when it sat flat on the new carpet for a short period that perhaps some of the fabric protector seeped into the trim of the frame. I will set it up in my garage and monitor. Thx again
