Neto July 21, 2014 Share July 21, 2014 (edited) Anybody has experience with these T5 retrofit kits? I might buy a 24" x 4 to supplement the LEDS in my tank http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/2-ft-let-lighting-miro-4-t5-high-output-retrofit-kit.html The reason for it is because my tank's corals have excelent color but not a lot of growth (excluding birdsnests). Mattiejay6 July 21, 2014 Share July 21, 2014 LET is a great retrofit kit.. The ballasts are very good from all the reviews and people talking about them on reef central. I have a kit, but not installed it..

Mattiejay6 July 21, 2014 Share July 21, 2014 Interesting question.... Well I would say it would be hard to compare the two. The general performance would be the same light turns on and you have good ballasts powering the lights. I see no difference as far as the reflectors go..you will not have the controllability like the Ati fixture, but you can fix that with using an apex etc... The one thing I would venture to talk about with is heat dispersal. Ati has a cooling system built in. The way you retrofit this kit etc could play a factor because this kit does not come with a fan etc. I would say you might need to rig something up if this is going in a canopy to disperse the heat because that would affect the bulbs! Der ABT July 31, 2014 Share July 31, 2014 I am confused as to why they cost so much..... for 2 bulbs your looking at 40-50 in parts for the reflector, endcaps (most expensive part) and clips...most likely even less (buy 1 48 in reflector and cut it) ballasts you can find for 20-30 bucks - advance ballasts are nice and im sure there are plenty of others ones out there online so if you have enough DIY knowledge to build what they give yuo in the kit you can do it all for about 80 or less (most likely less)...so save 40+ dollars.. if you buy some used stuff save even more....kits look nice and all but i just dont understand the markup when yuo piece the stuff out individually. biggest issue i have with 24in bulbs is the cost...they are basically the same price as big bulbs and the color options are as varied but if you have a 24 in tank you got no choice.
