My Euro Reef RS 80 Recirc Mod

I modified my Euro Reef RS 80 to me a recirculating skimmer.

 

It works so much better it is hard to believe. It cranks baby.

I have the same skimmer and would love to do this but i don't understand the concept - any good links that (1) explain what the recirculation does for the skimmer compared to its normal operation and (2) exactly how to do it?

Nutshell - it allows the skimmer to process the water over & over (recirculate) = longer contact time = more organics removed.

Nice Job Bruce. That will really make that skimmer crank. Did you do any mods to the needle-wheel, or the air intake at all? or was it just strictly a recirc mod only? Whats the flow rate on the smaller feed pump?
