steveoutlaw October 2, 2006 October 2, 2006 I would like to drill a small hole in the return chamber of my sump and add a float valve. I would then have my RODI plumbed directly into my kalk reactor and then to the float valve to act as an ATO. Question 1: Are there diamond bits that small or do I try the dremel route? Question 2: If using a dremel, will a tile cutting bit allow me to make the initial hole? Question 3: Does anybody see potential problems with this? TIA
cbashaw October 2, 2006 October 2, 2006 There are diamond bits that small. You will need a 3/4" bit for a kent float valve. If BRK doesn't have them I'm sure they can get them and I know for sure Harbor Freight has them. For a hole this small a dremel with a tile bit would be no problem.
ErikS October 2, 2006 October 2, 2006 Do I have this right? RO/DI unit -> kalk reactor in -> kalk reactor out -> float valve in sump ??? If that's a yes it won't work (for long anyway). A kalkreactor isn't designed to hold that kind of pressure. This goes for those made by most - Barr Aquatics, Deltec, MRC, Geo..........
dandy7200 October 2, 2006 October 2, 2006 I second what Eric says, you can however use a electronic float switch to operate a NC solenoid on your RODI feed to the Kalk reactor. Then you don't need to drill anything.
steveoutlaw October 2, 2006 Author October 2, 2006 That is how I have it set up now.........float valve in 5g bucket...........powerhead in bucket plugged into float switchgoes into kalk reactor and then into tank. I'm getting ready to put in my Calcium reactor and wanted to get rid of the bucket to make some space.
dandy7200 October 2, 2006 October 2, 2006 Then why not just put a acrylic holder over the lip of the sump? Or are you using the Kent type float?
steveoutlaw October 2, 2006 Author October 2, 2006 Yes, I have a kent float in the bucket. but I have my rodi going into my kalk reactor and from the previous posts the kalk reactor can't handle that kind of pressure. I'm open to all suggestions......at least about this topic I am
