GaryL July 19, 2004 Share July 19, 2004 Ok, i was going to start out with 2 250w 20k MH and a 400w MH, but i got 2 250w 6.5k MH and i mounted them all up in a row (so 4 250w =1000w). they are on a AGA 150 72" long, im a little worried about the center brace. during the test run it was a little warm. The lights are about 14" above the top of the tank. am i too worried? or is this too much? Thanks in advance ]]]thx
mutley29 July 19, 2004 Share July 19, 2004 I've got 800watts of 20000k above my 180, gonna up that to at least 1000watts soon. The bracings on mine get warm but nothing to worry about, and my lamps are about the same distance above the tank top as yours [nana] HTH Anton

ReefMon July 19, 2004 Share July 19, 2004 You really don't want to put a halide directly over a plastic brace, as they will become brittle from the UV over time. 3 MH bulbs are generally sufficient for a 72" tank.
GaryL July 19, 2004 Author Share July 19, 2004 i basically positioned the 2 inner facing outward of the brace =----> <----= + =----> <----= ==============++=================___ x tank x metal brace is were the + sign is bulbs are facing in the direction of the arrow> ill add fans and time them differently
