First reef tank

Hello all 

Thank you all for letting us join the group with so many questions for listening ears, let me start  by introducing  myself Deone and April here ,married with children recent empty-nesters so we decided to go ahead and get our tank started so far so good with what I’m sure will be a roller coaster of a ride with plenty of ups and downs looking forward to them all.

We added water on june 1st. We are now in a green algae phase (looks kinda hard and doesn’t just scrub off) . We have not had hair algae yet. But have had what I think to be diatoms. 
I do have a few questions .

We are currently not running a kalk stirrer.should I set this up.

I have never added any chemicals to tank. 
should I do roaphos or however it is spelled. 

cheato seems to grow well .

should I do reef moonshine.

mainly just thinking about the kalkwasser, to keep ph closer to 8.4.
