Scott_LM September 21, 2006 September 21, 2006 Hello everyone! I am looking for sand in the area. The HDs used to sell southdown sand. Do they still? If not what types of sand are people using in there tanks that is inexpensive? I am looking for some black plexiglass to make an overflow. Anyone know of a place around Rockville that carries it? Is MichealG still around. I was a member of WAMAS 3 years ago before I moved to FL. We just moved back and I am setting up a small 65 HEX until we get settled. Thanks Scott

Thanks Scott southdown is pretty much gone at this point. they closed the place it was being mined from. for sugar sang, there are many types out there. i got marine/reef sand from aquarium one for my frag tank. looks good, gets blown around i know there's a plastics shop that has acrylic (probably black too) somewhere up in the laurel ish (N of the beltway) area. i think if you do a search for "acrylic shop" you should be able to find it. haven't seen michael G.
gastone September 21, 2006 September 21, 2006 Michael G. moved up to Albany, NY a year or two ago. You might want to try the Southern States in Manassas for Yard Right tropical play sand. I picked up a couple hundred pounds about a year and a half ago or so. Don't know if they still carry it though. Welcome back. Garrett.
