Valeria September 16, 2006 September 16, 2006 I need to catch some fish, does anyone have a fish trap I can borow? Thanks Carla
Caribbean Jake September 16, 2006 September 16, 2006 you can build one very cheap. take a bottle 2 litter cocacola or pepsi (or similar), cut the tip off enough to leave a 2" diameter opening. tie a string to that end and put some frozen food at the bottom of the bottle. remember to clean the bottle first before putting it in the tank, and take the labels and plastics off. Then stop feeding your fish for two days, and put the bottle horizontally in the tank with the food (tricky but can be done), then sit in fornt of the tank and wait for the fish to go for the food. While the fish is half way into the bottle facing the food with it;s tail towards the opening, pull the string and the bottle will turn vertically, keep pulling the bottle until it is out of the water. the syphoning effect of the water will puch the fish towards the bottom and will assist in catching the fish. It can take few hours or 2 days, it all depends on what fish and how hungry they are. I was able to use this method in my 125G and pull 11 fish out of the tank in 3 hours span. Good luck, let me know if I can be if further assistance. Jacob
squiddly September 17, 2006 September 17, 2006 Or if you'd like to borrow one, I have a real live store bought "Fish Trap" that has thusfar caught nothing but my charge card :-). I'll be back in town next Sat. or so from a lovely fish and coral watching vacation. Just let me know. Likely, Jacob's idea will work better. One way to find out :-)
