steveoutlaw September 15, 2006 September 15, 2006 Looking to waterproof the bottom (inside) of my tank stand. What is the best product to use for this? The stand is all wood and the coating would have to go over caulking without damaging it.
tygger September 15, 2006 September 15, 2006 This is what I used for the inside of my stand: http://www.minwax.com/products/protective/polycrylic.cfm
steveoutlaw September 16, 2006 Author September 16, 2006 I need to use it over a waterbased paint. Are there any issues with that?
rrubberbandman September 16, 2006 September 16, 2006 Steve, Check out the boating place in front of shoppers(parkway)...look for a marine polyurethane.....uhhh....did you say you painted it already? hmmmmm.....dont know then. back in the late 90's i used the marine grade poly(clear) on my housing for my icecap vho's. kept the wood from bowing, dis-coloring, etc etc. Bryan
mutley29 September 16, 2006 September 16, 2006 Don't know if this is what your after in way of finish, but when i built my stand from pressure treated timber i gave it about 4 or 5 coats of the oil based Kilz Admittedly it been up less than a year, but is just as good now as the day i applied it HTH
