treesprite March 12, 2020 Share March 12, 2020 I'm trying to figure out why my dottyback stayed out of sight for over a month. It's the only fish in the tank, so I can't figure out why it would behave that way. Anyone want to conjecture on the reasons some fish do this? Are they just screwing with us? paul b March 13, 2020 Share March 13, 2020 (edited) Because your fish know they are swimming in 14" of water and normally swim in 14' or 140' of water. Also their lateral line lets them know they are surrounded by "glass" which they can't see but can "feel". If you can see them, they can also see you and unless you are Angelina Jolie, they don't want to see you right up and personal. Fish must be very uncomfortable in a tank. https://www.saltwatersmarts.com/?s=lateral+line Edited March 13, 2020 by paul b
