sturnmeyer August 8, 2006 August 8, 2006 I've got a small 10g fuge underneath my 30g display. Just curious what lights people have picked up and used easily from Lowes or HD for the fuge? Thanks
Caribbean Jake August 8, 2006 August 8, 2006 there was a link once about the inexpensive lights you can use. The bulb I bought over a year ago was at HD, and it cost around $14 each, then I bought the clamp socket $2 + tax it came out to about $17 and then some. The bulb was a 6500K spot light but can't remember the brand. I suggest you do a little research in WAMAS past forums and posts for the topic Refugium Lights, or go to RC and look for the DIY section, it must be in there. Sorry I son't have the information on hand.
rrubberbandman August 8, 2006 August 8, 2006 hi, wally world has 6500k compact screw in bulbs.....they are bright...all you need is some sort of dome and a socket....they usaully have these also...like you would use to heat reptile cages. hth, Bryan
ErikS August 8, 2006 August 8, 2006 Really you can use just about anything. Most of the "daylight" bulbs you find @ HD/Lowes are around the 6500K which means they'll have plenty of red spectrum for gowing cheato or other macros. Given the 10g I would consider one of the small Regeant/LOA outdoor lamps. The small power compact bulbs will put out plenty of light for a 10g. IIRC they're under $20 with the square housing which afford some water protection.
