ReeferMan July 30, 2006 July 30, 2006 Ok so now my one and only anthia (female) seems to have some wort of white specks all over her body. My clowns seem to have the same thing but are eatting. The anthia is not and her eyes look swollen. I doesnt look like ick though. any thoughts?
ReeferMan July 31, 2006 Author July 31, 2006 Chris, Any pics? my camera does get that close without it being blurry which would defeat the purpose
ReeferMan August 1, 2006 Author August 1, 2006 anyone know much about deseases? Two of my clowns now have it and i could only get one of them in QT and treated with medication. My black and white perc look really bad and i could catch him or the smaller one. Didn't have much problem getting the six line wrasse (not spots yet) since he decided to jump in the hose when i was taking out some water. It looks almost like the skin of the fish is peeling and there is white fussy spots on them. Two fish died already, 3 in QT, 4 more in the tank. Should i try to QT everything or only the sick? Any way to catch fish easily? Besides when they are sleeping (worked this morning)
ReeferMan August 2, 2006 Author August 2, 2006 ok so almost all my fish. but a sick clown, a sick blenny, 2 chromis and a potters angel. Potters angel looks healthy but its hard to tell since it hides alot. Sick clown and blenny look like they are next. desease kills the fish within a day of signs. I only have one chromi in qt and cannot catch the others. Anything i can do? should i take out everything to get the remaining fish out?
flowerseller August 2, 2006 August 2, 2006 What are you doing to treat? Look for bemmers post about the same. I think it's ick or oodinium
ReeferMan August 2, 2006 Author August 2, 2006 i am using ruby reef hydroplex that i had. I took apart my tank and got the potters and the remaining clown.
ReeferMan August 2, 2006 Author August 2, 2006 potters is now dead after 3 days of owning him!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I have a clown and two chromis left. What do i do now? will the desease die with no host?
ErikS August 2, 2006 August 2, 2006 If it's ich it will eventually die w/o a host......or so say some. Others have had it reappear after long fallow times & strict quarantine. Best is QT, treat, and return to tank.

Keep the SG at SW levels to make sure the cysts keep hatching and dying.

Chris has a cap he is holding for me.
ReeferMan August 7, 2006 Author August 7, 2006 i hope not because you dont want what i had/have lurking in your tank! Besides having one chromi, my corals and inverts look great! Tank looks very empty though !

When in cyst form it is theoretically possible. I would QT anything at least 30 days before adding it to my system, regardless of source. What is semi dormant in one reefers tank, may explode in yours.
rocko918 August 7, 2006 August 7, 2006 Would there be some sort of dip that could be used. I don't have spare lighting to go over a q-tank for corals.

I am not aware of anything that would be 100% safe for the coral and trigger 100% mortality of a cyst. I would likely just FW dip and maybe hit it with a hydroplex bath
