razzpatazzz May 18, 2018 May 18, 2018 I may be restarting my tank down the line so I wanted to hear from other reefers who tried or are currently trying these methods. Just learned about them and was very curious. I would love to hear what you think the biggest pros/cons are and what you learned and suggest or what I should avoid. Thanks in advanced.
Lowefx May 19, 2018 May 19, 2018 I've used zeovit for about 5 years. I have since leaned my system off back in January February of this year. All though they have a forum, it was hard to tune mine in just right on my last set up. I started from dry rock, dry sand and cycled on zeovit. Many blue bottles left over, stones, and other equipment that I'd sell you for cheap (or coral trade) if you're interested. I did have great growth in sps, and good colors. My lps couldn't survive. Also I was getting tired of shaking stones 2x a day, remembering what to does and when. I had a spread sheet for a tank sitter and they barely kept it alive. Now I'm dosing red sea trace colors and running cheato. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Lowefx May 19, 2018 May 19, 2018 They are completely different set ups with different results. I'm still trying to fine tune the red sea so I cant know for sure yet. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
razzpatazzz May 19, 2018 Author May 19, 2018 Is there anything about the setup itself you think I should know about before I consider trying zeovit? I know the amount of work is pretty high, but what about other elements? Is there something very different about zeovit I should be considerate of before considering it?
Lowefx May 19, 2018 May 19, 2018 Other than the extra work, go EXTREAMLY slow when dosing and using their products. It will strip the water very fast and the corals wont recover. Start with 1/2 zeolites, zeobak, zeostart for the first couple months, then ramp up from there. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
CK Reef May 20, 2018 May 20, 2018 Pros: great growth & color, a healthy and balance system with beneficial bacteria. Eliminated the need of doing weekly water change. Cons: a lot of works: daily dosing, shaking. Expensive. Just like Lowefx said, start everything from 1/2 of the recommended amount. Also adjust the flow of the zeovit reactor to half or less when first introduce to the tank. And you need to closely watch for nutrients level. You might need to feed the fish a bit more at first start to avoid the sudden drop in nutrients (which can lead to rtn).
