Alien Eye Chalice necrosis?

Had 4 pieces of Alien Eye Chalices, the light brown with green spots. Two large pieces are fine but two small pieces right next to the large ones just rotted away to white bone over the course of about 2 weeks. They were fine for most of the last year. The only change was some small amount of cyano growing right next to the chalice but not on it. Can cyano poison corals? Anyone seen this?

I have seen a lot of cyano bother stuff but not that smaller amount shown on your sand bed. Possible! But check and double check your parameters
