Sharkb8 June 14, 2006 June 14, 2006 This came with the 90g I rescued off of Craig's List. Sorry the photos aren't that great. Both photos are the same kind of animal. First one is a bit bleached due to proximity to the light. The second one is much more established, basically almost entirely wrapping around a rock. Edit: forgot to add, the polyps completely retract at night so that at night the surface is smooth with small bumps where the polyps retreat.
Sharkb8 June 14, 2006 Author June 14, 2006 Yeah, it kinda looks like one at the bottom of this page here: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/gorgidfaqs.htm Steve Pro says: "likely Erythropodium, possibly Briareum, but my bet is on the former. It is a very fast spreader and rather noxious. -Steven Pro" Greeaaat . . . .
Carl June 14, 2006 June 14, 2006 It looks like Briariem. and yes, it grows fairly fast - similar to xenia in growth rate - so be careful where you put it...perhaps by itself in the sand bed...vs on your live rock. -Carl
