Sand or crushed coral?

I'm starting a new small tank. My other uses crushed coral but this tank came with sand that has black in it. Witch do people think is better Sand or crushed coral? Or a mix of the two

All personal preference. I like thicker substrate since I have high flow.

Probably also depends on what fish you want to put in there. Like a Yasha goby with a pistol shrimp would appreciate some sand while a clown pair won't care what the substrate is.
