dschflier May 22, 2006 May 22, 2006 I have had my Nautilus EX protein skimmer for about a year and a half. Till today it always worked great. I came home today and I am getting no foam. I checked to see if the air tube was cloged and it wasn't. Inorder to clean where the airtube attaches does anyone know how to do that. I figure that has to be the problem but I am not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks David
Ne0eN May 22, 2006 May 22, 2006 Not exactly familiar with the Nautilus skimmer, but I'm assuming it's a venturi type. If that's the case, you can remove the venturi nozzle that the air tube attaches to and clean it using vinegar solution. Also check that the pump works properly. Wouldn't hurt to remove the impeller and also soak it in a vinegar solution. -Rob
Caribbean Jake May 22, 2006 May 22, 2006 Had a similar situation with my skimmer (not a Nautilus) and found that there were newly hatched snails in the intake of the Sedra 3500 pump therefore reducing the water flow and bubble fractioning which in turn reduces the foam amount created in the skimmer. Hint: take the skimmer apart and clean everything, it might just be a simple crab or snail stock in one tube. The worst could be that your pump is calling it's last days. Jacob
