Joshifer September 13, 2016 Share September 13, 2016 (edited) I bought a 3lb cured live rock for a couple bucks. but before I stuck it in my tank I put it in a bucket with old tank water. Dosed it 2PPM clear ammonia. And some prime not to kill whatever's in there so it don't Rot in my tank when I do put it in. I wanna see if by tomorrow or the next day it cycles that ammonia before I put it in my tank. Did I do something wrong? It could stay like that for a week or two even. Lady told me the rocks over a year old it's purple. Don't see any algae but gonna black it out anyway. I'm thinking about putting some dry Texas holey rock in there With it. I know it doesn't offer much filtration because it's dense I just want it to stick coral to. It has a power head to circulate and heat the water. (Cheapy Pond pump makes heat) Edited September 13, 2016 by Joshifer
Joshifer September 14, 2016 Author Share September 14, 2016 (edited) My expiriment worked. That little rock processed 2PPM pure ammonia in about 12 hours to 0. And 0 nitrites. Edited September 14, 2016 by Joshifer
