Addition of a Yellow Long Nosed Butterfly

Recommended Posts

Guest ethandvm

I have a 120 Reef Tank (30 gallon sump wet/dry filter, Aqua C120 skimmer, (2) 15W Metal Halide with Actinic Lights) with several softies (mushroom, elegant, star polyp), favia, frogspawn, and hammer corals. I also have a hippo, yellow tang, 2 firefsh, flame angel, rainbow wrasse, tomato clown, and bangkok cardinal. I am thinking about adding a yellow long nosed butterfly, do I have enough room? Will it be ok with my current corals?

Thanks

Looks like it would be fine to me. The yellow might chase it around for a while, so it might hide for a while. They are a sensitive fish, make sure you get it eating before you put it in the main tank. Setup a q-tank for it. It will give the fish a better chance at making it in the tank. Tomatoes can be agressive as well.

Very kewl fish however I have heard that they have been known to nibble at certain corals, and may not be reef safe for this reason. Do more research to prove this right or wrong.
