eddiev0008 September 17, 2015 September 17, 2015 So I was trying to fix my Atomatic feeder when the whole food just dumped into the tank! What would be the best way to et all the food out? Any help? Please. I don't want to get my nitrates to go up? Anyone have experienced this before? Please help I turned up my mp40 to have the food go down to the sump where I have a filter sock in place any other suggestions ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Squishie89 September 17, 2015 September 17, 2015 You can use a fish net and/or a turkey baster. There is also tying a filter sock or mesh media bag onto some tubing, hang the end with the bag in a bucket and siphon out the food, the bag should catch the food and then put back the water collected in the bucket.
sen5241b September 17, 2015 September 17, 2015 1+ net is out Also, if trates rise consider a 50% water change which will take out 50% of nitrates and one 50% is not the same as 5 10% changes.
lutz123 September 17, 2015 September 17, 2015 Good advice. I would also add that doing a good water change followed by another in a few days should help ensure that you don't have any issues. The food inevitably starts to break down immediately as it hits the water.
YHSublime September 17, 2015 September 17, 2015 Have some friends bring their fish over to help eat it all. Net, siphon, remove as much as possible, then water change, like everybody has suggested! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
