madmax7774 April 10, 2006 Share April 10, 2006 My new reef Tank is about 3 months old now, and Is doing what I perceive to be very well. I wa wondering what is the right time frame before I should start expecting to see corraline algae growth in the system. Is 3 months too early, what do you'all think??? extreme_tooth_decay April 10, 2006 Share April 10, 2006 unless your CA & ALK are in the proper range, you may not see it form. Mine started after about a month, and grew fairly fast on all the plastic in the tank (overflows and PVC I use for coral support, power heads). But, it doesn't really grow on my rocks. Weird, eh. Probably my CA and ALK aren't in the proper range, since I never dose or measure them, don't use kalk, etc tim
Guest alex wlazlak April 10, 2006 Share April 10, 2006 mine only started to come up after about a year or so... bummer though, cause i like it alot. i started to use this coraline algea grower, basicly calcium, and it came up real fast.
Guest Tomsimtim April 10, 2006 Share April 10, 2006 It also has to be introduced into the tank. GARF Grunge is a good source. Tim
JC Pollman April 10, 2006 Share April 10, 2006 If you are lucky it will come in slow and not much: it gets to be a pain after a while.
londonloco April 11, 2006 Share April 11, 2006 If you are lucky it will come in slow and not much: it gets to be a pain after a while. Tell me about it. Since I've been adding calcuim several times a week, all it wants to do is grow on my FRONT glass!! My overflows are getting covered nicely tho.......... stevil April 11, 2006 Share April 11, 2006 You have to have some coraline for it to grow and spread. Do you have any rocks with it on there?
