treesprite June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 (edited) Anyone know, from experience, if a citron clown goby is most likely to kill a green clown goby if in the same tank? They are not the same species, so I thought they would be ok together. I got a citron clown goby which I put in my 75g tank where I have already had a green clown goby for several months. The citron goby is probably twice the size of the green goby. I have not seen the green clown goby since about 5 days ago. It is true that sometimes I don't see that fish for a couple of days at a time, but 5 days is long enough for me to think it's probably a goner. I'm hoping it just got into the sump and is too elusive for me to see in there, but I kind of have my doubts about that. Edited June 3, 2015 by treesprite
rtelles June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 My experience with clown gobies is that they'll pick on any fish that is roughly their same size and shape. I've had a few yellow clown gobies, and their temperaments have varied. One would constantly pick on a yasha goby (which was moved) and a randall (when he was a juvenile, now too big to be messed with) before he himself was picked off by a sixline (since rehomed). My current guy is living peacefully with a small harem of purple firefish and a pair of clownfish, but they can be territorial little buggers when housed with other gobies. Hopefully your green clown has just been picked on and is in hiding, but your citron is definitely capable of killing the green guy.
treesprite June 4, 2015 Author June 4, 2015 i feel awful, because it's my fault if the citron killed the green.
treesprite June 23, 2015 Author June 23, 2015 Wow, I just now found the little bugger in the sump after all. He was doing a good jump of eluding me, like telling me not to put him back in the DT with that citron. Now what do I do with the fish? I'm wondering if I could catch the citron out of the DT... probably not.
rtelles June 25, 2015 June 25, 2015 Nice! Do you prefer the green clown over the citron? If not, you could probably sell or trade him relatively quickly and problem solved. Glad you found him!
treesprite June 27, 2015 Author June 27, 2015 I think I like the green better. The citron turned from yellow to brown, so it is no longer a nice yellow fish. It's sitting on what little sps I have and killing it (the green sat on stuff too, but is at most half the size of the citron). I doubt I will be able to catch that citron though.
