In a recent thread I identified bad water in my reservoir as a source and eliminated that followed by several 50% water changes And yet the slime continues fueled by 0.25 ppm phosphates. Two possibiliies, my clown has gotten bigger and increased bio-load or a chunk of aragonite I put in a few months ago. Someone said they've had certain pieces of rock leach phosphates. I will probably set up another tank and move the clown and the rock to it. So far, Phosgaurd and vodka have failed to kill off the red slime. What other source of phosphates could there be? Feel free to brainstorm this. Edited May 2, 2015 by sen5241b

sen5241b May 4, 2015 Author May 4, 2015 How is the flow in the tank, especially where the red slime is located? Flow is good but not strong enough to cause a sandstorm. There is red slime growing on top of my cheato in the fuge too. cyano uses other chemicals to grow, not just p04 and no3. with phosphates at 0.25 ppm that alone could account for the cyano
