CS1 skimmer feed pump help

Purchased a CS1 skimmer kit yesterday that should be arriving tomorrow. I was hoping for a feed pump recommendation. Its final home will be in a 90g system with about 120g of total water volume. While I work on that build, I plan to run it on my existing tank (~50g water volume). Can I use the same feed pump on both tanks?

 

From the specs you recommend a 100-300gph pump. When looking at the maxi-jet pumps (http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-pumps-powerheads/maxi-jet-aquarium-powerhead-circulation-pump.aspx) which spec do I look at powerhead or circulation mode?

Hi Eric

 

You'll want to use a MJ in regular powerhead mode.  A MJ 400 is plenty for your case.  No need to have much more than 1-2x system volume per hour turnover through skimmer.
