Lower Mag?

My Mag is steadily around 1700. It's been that way for about 6 months now. I was wondering if I should try to lower it and if so, what's the best method.

 

Temp 81

Salinity 1.026

Nitrate 5

Nitrite 0

Ammonia 0

Calcium 400

Alk 4

My god man, what are you adding?

What salt mix do you use?

If you were going to lower it, how would you?

:D That's my question.....I use IO and do 10% changes per week.

 

Other than that, I really do nothing else. Are my other numbers okay?

 

Oh, BTW....two different test kits....Salifert...

I did not realize Salifert MG would register as high as 1700.

You confident in the 1700 reading?

 

Your other #'s are great for no additives.

I use both Kalk & CA reactors and still have to add turbo calcium periodically to stay over 430.

You have to work pretty hard with a heavily stocked 220!!

What does the fresh mixed water read? (thinking maybe a bad salt batch).

 

If you're 100% on the results I'd ID the culprit as soon as possible - 2000ppm is fatal to most everything.
