greengalaxy February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 Hey my teacher is letting me setup up a small fish tank in his class. He had like a 5-10 gallon tank and I was going to do a power head and small skimmer because the tank is small. Any more advice
smallreef February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 Don't really need a skimmer, keep it simple with some softies, maybe zoas depending on the light and maybe 2 fish... Like a blue green chromis and a goby... Weekly water changes will be better than using a skimmer on such a small tank as long as its not over loaded and you can get away with feeding every 2 -3 days... YHSublime February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 Great advice above. My advice would be really plan ahead. What will you do on vacations when the school is closed? What will you use for light? How are you going to get and or make the water there?
Happyfeet February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 Many schools turn off the Heat/AC on Friday until Monday morning to save electricity. I'd find out how often they do that if they do and plan accordingly. I'd skip the skimmer, in a tank that size majority of your filtration will be rocks and water changes.
