davelin315 October 21, 2014 October 21, 2014 Looks to be a vermetid snail. More or less harmless unless you get a ton of them and then they start to take over and create problems when you reach into the tank.
edress714 October 21, 2014 Author October 21, 2014 I just looked at the whole tank and they are all over the rocks. :(
edress714 October 21, 2014 Author October 21, 2014 I don't have millions lol just read they aren't nice to some corals
zygote2k October 21, 2014 October 21, 2014 no reason to go on a killing spree. they're not going to hurt the corals. If you kill off everything that isn't a coral, your tank will be devoid of diversity. have a beer.
davelin315 October 21, 2014 October 21, 2014 They're not bad necessarily, but their slime trails can cause some issues. For me, the big problem with them has always been that they grow on the underside of rocks and pose cut and puncture wound dangers when handling the rock. Typically, though, when they overgrew something, I'd just snap them off and didn't get injured. It was typically only when I wasn't very careful and had my arm in precarious positions that it would cause problems.
sen5241b October 21, 2014 October 21, 2014 (edited) They are hard and sharp and I have cut my hand on them. Fortunately I did not then rub my hand on a zoa. Also, I have had them grow on a clam shell and they seem to irritate the clam Edited October 21, 2014 by sen5241b

These places should have strong warning signs to alert you of the possibility that this isn't a good place to put your arm into because there's millions of calcareous tubeworms that have a nasty habit of embedding themselves into your skin. Bunnies are nice and soft and rarely bite.
