Guest Edwardj February 11, 2006 February 11, 2006 I have a Euroreef protein skimmer. Unfortunately, the neck of the skimmer cup is broken. It looks like it can be bonded or glued - has anyone tried this before? Any suggestions on what to use? There is a sliver of plastic missing, so i may have to build it up a little. Any suggestions? Here is a link to some photos. Euro-reef wants around $180 for the new cup - I'd like to avoid paying this if I can.
ErikS February 11, 2006 February 11, 2006 Weldon #3 or #4 will flow right into crack & repair it. Could use #16 like caulk to fix it (from the outside - keep the inside smooth). I'd flow some #4 into the crack - just my approach.
Grav February 17, 2006 February 17, 2006 EEEeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww!! Gross skimmer gunk. With that gap, I think #3 or #4 will be too thin. Even #16 has a limit on the space in can fill. I'd try the #16. Good luck

We used #4 on the break with no gap, and on the gap, 16 - when the thing was pushed together, the gap was not so big. It's been working since Last Sunday - and now there's even more skimmer gunk.
