Fine-spotted (Dotted) Fairy Wrasse

Recommended Posts

Hey folks -

I have a fine spotted fairy wrasse (C. punctatus) and I was wondering if anyone else has one -I haven't seen them before locally.

It's a great fish, I'll try to get a pic soon.

I don't have one, but I decided to look up what it looked like. Here's a pic for reference off of live aquaria:

Hi Jamie

I used to have one in my old 180, but despite my best efforts in covering the top of the tank in egg crate, he somehow managed to get onto the carpet and see how far he could bury himself. :bigcry:

Before it's demise it it was a beautiful fish, very active and woofed down everything i fed the tank on, it used to display at it's own reflection alot, but never bothered any other fish, it did take several legs off one of my Cleaner shrimp though.

Anton :)

I've had one for about 18 months. Very aggressive fairy wrasse. It will loose some of it's coloration and become mostly blue with spots. You'll have to be careful when adding other fairy wrasses with this one.

Thanks for the info, but there have been some...um...developments.

I was looking around on the web, and since I never really thought my wrasse looked like that picture, I was looking at Fairy Wrasse ID pages. Turns out I have a solar wrasse.

Now, that was a good deal, since it was mislabeled in the LFS and the price was much lower than that for a solar wrasse.

He's still awesome and is a good size so I don't think he will get out of the eggcrate cover I have made for him.

He is still on the LFS clock so he wakes up early and goes to sleep early :P

Thanks again,

Jamie

Solar wrasse are much more peaceful. Much better fairy wrasse for a community tank. Very pretty too and should keep it's color. I have one of those too for a few years now.

Bah wrong again.

It is definitely a blue sided fairy wrasse.

I'll post a pic.

I have a radiant wrasse that is a model citizen - holds beatiful colors colors, not a jumper, just eats the baby and small snails that used to proliferate in my system
