Flieger April 30, 2014 Share April 30, 2014 I have a question about plumbing my 125 so it's as quiet as possible. It's a Marineland tank with an overflow in each corner. Each overflow has 2 holes drilled in the bottom with plumbing supplied to have one drain and one return out of each corner. Should I hook it up as supplied or set up a kind of Bean Animal with one side having a single return and emergency overflow and the other side have the main syphon and other drain? Any other suggestions? I would really not like to drill extra holes in the tank or take out the current over flows. Thanks
zygote2k June 20, 2014 Share June 20, 2014 overflows are typically quiet as made by the manufacturer. most of the noise issues come from 2 things- 1) the pump is flowing too much for the returns to handle, 2) the water exiting from the drains into the sump needs to be encapsulated into a drain box/bubble trap. Figure out those two scenarios and you'll have a quiet tank.
Flieger June 20, 2014 Author Share June 20, 2014 Thanks. I am building a drain box in my sump that will then flow into 2 4" filter socks then to the skimmer and over another bubble trap. Hopefully that will get the job done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
