I have a mushroom that is poking through a montipora and killing it. This is impossible for me to clip away at unless I break off a large chunk. How can I kill it? Is there something I can inject into it with a syringe?

I know whenever I used Vinegar or Aiptasia x around my shrooms they got really sad, if you hit it directly with it it might kill it

The key would be to use a needle and syringe to inject the solution deep into the mushroom. You should inject less than 0.5 ml once a day until it is dead and gone. Slow and steady will ensure the monti doesn't feel a thing.

I would try:

1) Vinegar

2) alk raiser (soda ash)

3) Kalk solution

All of them should work.

My green shrooms have reached plague proportions. I have noticed that if I dose too much alk my shrooms shrink.

Thanks all....I'm gonna get a syringe this weekend and try some of these suggestions.  It's just in such a weird place that there isn't much I can do about it other than some type of injection.

If you decide to cut it off, wear eye protection.  They can shoot tiny cannon balls into your eye, which is very painful, and will take several trips to an ophthalmologist to remove them, as they are sticky, and need to be carefully scraped off your eyeball.  Happened to me a few years back...sucked big time.

I put a small rock on top of a mushroom and a couple days later it looked ready to detach. I pulled it out with tweezers and there did not appear to be any mushroom left on the rock. Its well known that mushrooms will detach and float around your tank if they don't get enough light or for other reasons. I am watching to see if anything grows back in that spot.
